Hello fellow 40k'ers!

I'll get down to it; after a long talk - resulting from me ('nid player) saying that a standard 40k battle in no way represents a 'nid invasion or 'nid tactics - with my fiance (DA player) on the bus home one night we decided to create a bunch of scenarios that, while perhaps not balanced, would be fun to play and true to the terrible calamity that is a Tyranid invasion.

Me being me, I've taken the concept and obsessively expanded it; our handful of scenarios has turned into:

  • A full story-driven(ish) campaign, with 6 main missions, each having the potential to unlock two bonus scenarios that follow each main mission and have rewards that will help in the next main mission.

  • Varied and interesting missions that eschew the standard 40k mission. Some missions may make one player ridiculously OP, but the opposing player will always get a chance to retaliate in a following mission.

  • Replay Value! The bonus missions are only unlocked after completing tricky bonus objectives in the main missions and often will often allow a struggling player to regain an upper hand. Hopefully you'll experience a few different missions on each playthough.

  • RPG elements - characters that survive missions can gain stats, weapon and model special rules and more.

  • A semi-professional look - while not quite GW's Battle Missions or Cities of Death I hope I've formatted the 'book' to an above-normal standard.

  • ...and more! (maybe)

  • The missions are hopefully refreshing to the average 40k player and I'm trying to think of of the box - suffice to say my recent playing Heart of the Swarm has been rather influential.

Our issue though, is I'm a full-time student with an hour commute, and my fiance works full time, also with an hour commute. Between us we probably have an hour free time each night - enough time for me to gradually write the campaign, but not enough for us to test the missions for balance issues.

So, if anyone's willing to volunteer, the links to whatever missions/rpg stuff I think is ready to be inflicted upon other people will be down below

Disclaimer: in accordance with GW's new vision, this is a cinematic campaign; fun comes first, utter balance comes second

Missions 1, 1a and 1b are ready for testing!

Here is the link to the pdf containing missions 1, 1a and 1b. http://www.scribd.com/doc/137515755/Tyranid-Campaign-11a1b-Beta

They're a little rough and ready but ready for playtesting. Hopefully they're actually fun!

*important note: throughout missions 1-1b Synapse is not a thing! Whoever decided lictors needed synapse was a tit.*

    I'm looking for feedback on:
  • any questions that arise as the game progress

  • any aspects or mechanics that need clarifying

  • any obvious rule inconsistencies (sadly I'm a 5th edition player that's only just transitioning to 6th, things get a little muddled). It's worth bearing in mind that there's plenty of deliberate tinkering with rules for gameplay's sake in these scenarios.

  • any balance issues

  • and of course any neat ideas you may have for a fun mission!

  • THANK YOU!

Hey, just letting you know that I'm looking over this and really enjoying reading it!

Generally speaking, most people on DakkaDakka don't seem to be very interested in custom campaigns, or fluffy battles. It's nice to see someone else who thinks that a lack of balance can be fun too!

Really enjoying the background story! I'll give you some more feedback when I finish reading! (I'm on scenario 1b now!)

If you are interested in reading a narrative, plot driven battle report I would very much appreciate you checking out "The Red Cuff Rebellion Campaign" here:
