Bloodthirsty Chaos Knight

I've been looking at this picture here: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2860498a_99120101096_DeathwingKnights02_873x627.jpg
...and several others while looking at the small words (read "Avenge" and "Punish" on the miniature above for example). I've been wondering, is there some special way of printing small words onto miniatures? Or do you just have to be really fine and accurate with the paint brush? If one were not so confident in the ways of the brush could they substitute some fine marker instead?

That looks like a steady hand with somewhat thinker black lines with a small grey line through the black giving it the script look. It's a neat little trick.

Three Color Minimum

Take a look at a Copic Multiliner Pens or Sakura Micron Pens. They come in various tip sizes and colors. More than likely you want one in black or dark gray and either a 0.3 or 0.05 in size. You will have to test.
For example, they are what many people use to do text on purity scrolls for Space Marines.

I use the 005 micron pen. Though for some reason my 01 doesn't write worth a damn.

I keep a couple different sizes and colors of technical pens on the desk for just such projects, though my results are usually quite as nice.

I prefer Micron pens on my scrolls but when i actually want to write legible words take a sewing needle and dip it in the color you wish. The second option takes a lot longer as you have to constantly redip the sewing needle into the paint as it does not have a cartridge or a belly like a paint brush.
