Here is a Grey Knight army I have been working on. This update includes new pictures on page 3, and fluff on this page to tie the army into the 40k universe. This army turned into the Superman army so I am adding those images to this showcase thread since they are now one in the same. Some of you might have seen my blog with the superman stuff - I apologize in advance for that. For those that have not seen the I hope you enjoy.

Before the planet Krypton was destroyed there was a marvelous city called Kandor; this city hosted some of the brightest individuals Krypton had to offer. During some time before the Great War, and destruction of the planet, the city was bottled into a miniature sized city by the Brain Interactive Construct, or Brainiac, for his own personal amusement.

After the defeat of Brainiac, Kal-El (Superman) found the bottled Kandorian city, and brought it back to Earth (Terra) with him. Because of the effects of the yellow sun on Kryptonians, Superman decided to keep the city in miniature form until he found a planet that they could inhabit, under a red sun. During this time, Superman was able to shrink himself down and enter the bottled city. Kal-El helped with politics, and the advancement of their civilization. Kal-El's family crest became the adopted flag of the kandorians, and Superman became legend.

Superman found a planet fit for the kandorians; then had them delivered and returned them to their normal size. With the Kandorians back to size, and the rebuilding the Kryptonian legacy, they needed to name their new home. They called this home New Kandor, and developed the most advanced civilization in their sector of the universe, and possibly the entire universe.

After 40,000 years of influence of the red sun, and cross breeding with the human population that had achieved space travel, the "yellow sun gene" became irreversibly inactive, and no New Kryptonian possessed Godly powers. Still Hailing Superman's family crest, and his legacy, the Kandorian Knights of New Kandor (KKNK) were born into space marines to continure to banish Greater Phantom Daemons that threaten their universe by sending them back to the Phantom Zone (warp).

Looks great! Love the color scheme, and the firing bullet brings a lot of life to the model. Great job!

I like your alternate color scheme, and the base looks awesome. The freeze frame shot from the cannon was pretty well executed. A whole army done up in this fashion should look great.

That is really awesome! I especially love the firing bullet. This is the coolest Dreadknight I have seen to date. Good Job!

Thank you guys for the feedback! I am really happy how the colors turned out. I can't wait to get this model on the turf to see how good he is in game lol. My next project is my HQ - I don't have an actual grand master model ( I will take recomendations) Currently I have a GK terminator dressed up that closely resembles the brother knight model, and has the GM's wargear represented. I am starting on it tonight. If you guys have a better model to recommend please let me know asap since I am starting tonight. I will check back here before I start. Thank you!

Gorgeous, love the base especially.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

The paint job is stunning!
I'm not a fan of the firing bullet thing, though. It looks sort of like an afterthought... the pose of the mini doesn't look like it's lining up a shot at all and in fact the bullet itself looks like it's aiming down a little...
Everything else is amazing, especially the base

I've always wondered what non-metal grey knights look like.
IMHO they look better than metallic ones!
Nice scorched effect on the incinerator (i think that's what it is)

Yeah thers a scortch effect on the incenerato, it is pretty subtle though. I actually took the psylence rand incenarator and meshed them together so it can be either counts as. turned out pretty nice and looks the either or part. I forgot to mention that the body and legs are magnitized so he can still swivel at the waste and come apart.

Hehe we have the same color scheme going on here.
Though, we are using different techniques to paint.

Happy to se more non metallic grey knights. Even tough they "should be" metallic as I believe there is only one order of the grey knights?

Anyhow, well done on the white. It's no easy job to get it right.

I had a gander at your army vash; it looks good. We have close to the same color yeas, but looks like your focus is more on white then my focus. I am going after an Ivory look. Thank you guys. I am about to start my GM now since no one suggested a model for me other then what I described. Should take me about a day unless RL gets me tied up. I played around with some NMM on him; I am thinking of doing it completely then posting for feedback to see if I need to scrape it.

Quick update: Gonna be a couple days for me to get my HQ done. RL got a hold of me. I decided on how I was going to do it. It is not taking very long to do, just finding the time. Thank you for the feedback! I hope you all like how I did the HQ once its posted.

Sorry it took so long for my update. I got commissioned to paint 3 models, and those took priority. I tried a new style for me with this model. I think it is a type of NMM, not sure though. It is suppose to be a highly reflective surface thats ivory in color, so everything reflects in brown tones. I wanted this models armor to be different being an HQ and all. I noticed some chips in one of the pics, so those are getting fixed asap. Anyways this is my Grand Master!

Thank you for the feedback Joske. I did not weather anything though so I am curious as to what part your talking about. I am thinking no one likes this HQ model or its just average since I have only gotten feedback from only 1 person. =(

He is talking about the bottoms edges of the armour where you have the different (darker) colour, it looks like you were trying to simulate the top colour peeling/coming off. And hence weathering.

Anyway, nice and neat painting.

Let me start by saying that I love that Dreadknight and the color scheme you've used. I was always a fan of red/ivory combo and have some eldar painted up that way...

I think the SENMM (Sky Earth Non Metal Metal EXAMPLE) look for the Grand Master's "highly reflective" ivory suit is an excellent go at it but not needed, IMHO. I really like that dreadknight and think the Grand Master would benefit from that clean look. With that said, if you're still going for a different ivory look I've added pearl pigment to my white and used that as a hightlight on ivory/bone to give it a really ceramic look. You might also be able to play with gloss varnish on the ivory if you're into that sort of thing (I am but most seem to shy away from gloss varnish with matts)...

Just my 2 cents. Hope to see more soon!

Thnk you guys for the feedback. Nowoo, when your talking about the gloss varnish, are you talking about putting it on the HQ in its current paint schemes ivory or the normal power armor schemes ivory? I thought about using it, but dont know if it would mess up the sky/earth paint. I am currently painting a terminator in the regular scheme so I will post it when i am done, for feedback vrs the HQ. Id hate to paint over the HQ since its 100% done. I spent the day yesterday putting magnets in my purifier squad, so it might be tomorrow before I get the pic up. I also have the entire armies bases done except for my stormraven =).

I was thinking it would look good on the regular ivory power armor.

Taking a second look, another observation on the SENMM, and why I think it's been referred to as weathering, is the base is grey/stone and the reflection is brown/dirt... that example I posted earlier shows more of a stone (earth) reflection. With that said, I can imagine the stairs drop the master onto a muddy field of battle and that's what you're seeing in the reflection, but it might be something to consider in the future. I haven't tried SENMM before so take me with a grain of salt.

Those bases look great, btw!

Thank you guys.
Nowoo I totally see exactly what your saying. Had I made the stone reflect in stone colors then the power armor would no longer be considered Ivory; the armor would become the color chrome if I am thinking right. Crome reflects things as the colors they are. Reflective colored metal should reflect the color tones of the base color I think. The pic you linked is a crome color, and a fantastic one at that.

Think of a red car; it would reflect in hues of red. Check out the old fashion chrome bumbers, they will catch the green grass, maybe your shirt, and probbaly the sky if you look at it right.

I have been thinking of gloss power armor but I am not sold on it yet.

Ok here is what the terminators will look like. Not all will have the glow, just this guy because of the lights. You cant tell from the pictures, but the inside of the legs and lower chest frontal areas etc are a brown not ivory to show specular lighting. The back and sides are ivory/white. The shoulder pads I need to touch up the gold; I missed a couple spots. HOORAY for pictures to see things! |Sorry it took a couple extra days for this guy; I ran into priming problems and ran out of paint. Everything is magnetic also on this guy and the terminators I have not done.
