Here's a pretty basic idea: For 2 points a model, up to 15 Grots in a squad can take 18" Sniper rifles. If they do so, the squad size is limited to 15 models plus Runtherds.
After all, in the fluff they are frequently used as snipers and marksmen, why not in game?

15x 4pt snipers is a bit ridiculous

A better idea would be to take "Grot Snipers" as an elites choice and make them pretty much the same as Ratlings.

Probably because for 85 points you get 15 shots that hit on 4s with Rending.

4? 3+2 is 5 points each.
I was designing them to resemble how the Kroot got a similar option for just 1 point each...
What if the rifles had the 'gets hot' rule?

I wouldn't make it gets hot I would make something like the gun jammed and the model cant shoot next turn but I could see that getting cumbersom in game. Remember grots have no save so it is not like they are going to be able to do anything for very long, and they also don't have mob rule so LD would be a big factor with these guys.

I would make their snipers only wound on a 5+ since grots can't get anything good and remove the precision shots or the rending because these are grots we are talking about after all

I agree, though they should be an elites choice, and should be granted a 6+ cover save like ratlings as they are small and sneaky, OR have a special rule that let's them retain their BS3 if they go to ground (Normal snap fire for overwatch applies)
