Has anyone else noticed that with VGC paint the pigments just don't seem to want to mix? It's fine with VMC but I can't get it working with VGC (I've been shaking it for like 3 minutes and there's still barely any pigment coming out). Does anyone else have this problems or is this just the specific pot I bought? If anyone else had this problem and found a solution, please do share!

Welcome friend http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/523702.page . VGC have separation issues and they turn into toothpaste in short order.

don't buy it. Get VMC or VMA

Some paints need a stir if they've been sitting for a fair while so can't hurt to do that. I've added agitators to all my paints to help stop settling being a problem. I don't have that problem with any of my VGC after having done this.

just give the GC stuff a good shake and it's fine.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

Please ignore Tyronus. VGC are excellent paints and are formulated a bit thicker than the VMC range. I have added a heavy glass bead to my bottles to help with agitation and it works a treat. If the bottle is starting to gloop up a bit, pull the dropper top off and add some water, then stir. Shake for a couple seconds and you are back in business.

There's potentially an issue with the nature of the tapered nozzle. As pigment settles, the top layer is left with nothing but medium. If you shake the bottle, the top layer can become stuck in the channel leading to the tip, unable to mix with the rest of the churning contents. That is what will come out first, when you go to add paint to your palette.

Rapidly rolling the bottle between your palms instead of shaking avoids the issue, while being surprisingly effective at mixing the contents. I never squeeze out under-pigmented paint, anymore, and I haven't even added agitators to some of my bottles. If left for ages, I might lead off with a stir, but the rolling is usually more than enough for a good mix.

If you read through Tyronus' hate thread, you'll see a few responses, including my own, that address easy fixes to the most common complaints (as well as a general lack of agreement with his anti-VGC stance).
