We have tried these night fighting rules at our local club and they work ok
We found that even though some units got stealth or shrouded often their armour save was better.
To make things better we made the following rules.
If a unit shoots at another it has the following modifyers:
The shooting unit cannot pick a target more than 36" away. (same as normal rules)
Then for every 12" an enemy unit is away from the shooting unit, they get a penalty of 1 from their ballistic skill.
so 12" to 24" subtract 1 from their ballistic skill
24" to 36" subtract 2 from their ballistic skill
Night vision means they can see normally so no penalty and spotlights work the same.
These rules were made to reflect how harder it is to see at night for most units.
