Subject: Farsight Enclave (new supplement) 1500 pts list

After some fun with my Dark Angels but hitting a bit of a wall to be consistent, I have decided to take the leap with Tau for an upcoming Tournament, especially with the new supplement book. Dusting off my minis and adding a few, here is what I was thinking.
HQ
Farsight - 165
Elites
Riptide - Ion accelerator + shielded missile drone
Troops - all with Bonding Knives
Crisis team (3) w/ 3x Twin linked Fusion blaster
Crisis team (3) w/ 3x Twin linked Missile pods
Crisis team (3) w/ 3x Twin linked Plasma rifle
Fire warrior squad (12) with pulse rifles
Fast Attack - all with Bonding Knives
Pathfinders (5) w/ markerlights and Pulse carbines
Pathfinders (5) w/ markerlights and Pulse carbines
Heavy support - Broadsides with Bonding Knives
Hammerhead gunship w/ Railgun, SMS and DP
Hammerhead gunship w/ Railgun, SMS and DP
Broadside team inc. Shas'vre 3x TL HMP and TL SMS. Shas'vre has Drone controller and 2x Missile drones
What do you think? I need to find 4 points, maybe losing a Firewarrior.
The current plan is Farsight drops with the Fusion Blaster team, to cause some pain with their priority targets supported by the Riptide.
Then the Missile team and Plasma frustrate lighter vehicles/troops.
Heavy support lend fire where required all boosted by the Pathfinders.
I was considering losing a Hammerhead for more troops, but prefer to have a little back up hence having two ,
What do you think?
Thanks,
NW4NW

Honestly, except for his Warlord Trait, Farsight is weaker than a standard Commander. He is only worth it in a Farsight Bomb list (not with the Farsight supplement though!).
Crisis are wasted with TL weapons. Get two normal weapons for 10 points more.
Shielded missile drone for the Riptide is BAD. Not useless, worse! If it dies (and it dies...) it makes you test Morale. You don't want to lose a Riptide for that...
Drone controller does NOT work for Missile Drones, so it's useless with Broadsides.

Still not good, imho.
To begin, your list is 1527 points, and this without including the (mandatory, imho) submunitions for the Hammerheads.
You don't have necessary support systems like EWO on Broadsides or the Riptide, you lack AA (in an army with the best AA in the game...), Farsight is wasted with a 3-men Crisis team, the Crisis themselves could benefit from some drones, and in all truth i don't understand why you chose to make a Farsight army... this list could very well be a regular Tau army just replacing one Crisis team with a FW or kroot unit (which you very well should do anyway since the list is over the point limit)... you have nothing that takes from the Farsight codex except troop Crisis, and i generally believe they are not worth it (crisis are good, but you need something else for objectives, because they are fragile).
Sorry to be blunt, but my advice is: rethink about your strategy, and start fresh with a new list, because this one simply doesn't work.

Don't worry about being blunt, like I said, it's my first list and i could do with the advice. Will go back to the drawing board!

Ok, going back to the drawing board I have put the attached together.
Better?
HQ
Commander - 2 MPs, 2 marker drones, drone controller and shield gen (with MP Crisis team)
Ethereal
Elites
Riptide - Ion accelerator, SMS, EW, Velocity tracker
Troops
Crisis team - 2x MP's, EW
Crisis team - 2 Fusion Blasters
Fire warrior team (10) - Pulse rifles
Fire warrior team (10) - Pulse rifles
Fast Attack
Pathfinders (5) - ML Carbines
Pathfinders (5) - ML Carbines
Heavy Support
Broadside team (3) HMP, SMS and EW
Hammerhead - Railgun with submunition, DP and SMS
Fortification
ADL
All troops required include a Bonding knife as per Farsight rules.
The thinking is that the Ethereal, FWs, Pathfinders and Broadsides sit behind the ADL in cover, whilst the Crisis teams move up flanks, Riptide and Hammerhead take advantage of markerlights from Pathfinders, picking off key targets.
I'm torn with the commander, having the shield gen or EW. Picked the Shield gen as he was fairly tough to keep alive in the games I played over the weekend. Ethereal stops troops and sides running off the board and boosts Pulse rifles if opposition troops get close.
Thanks,
NW4NW
