I have two lists that I am looking at running for a tournament later this month. There are three main lists that I am very worried about, the necron air force, a flying circus variant and an imp guard air force list (off the top of my head 3 squads of three Vendettas, a Vulture and two Thunderbolts). At the same time I still need to have a some what decent all comers list. I am curious as to what others may use. I am open to purchasing a Crimson Hunter I would only like to do that as a last resort. The two lists I have are as follows.
List 1
Farseer, Jetbike, Runes of Whitnessing, Spear

The first list the Farseers attach to a bike squad while they throw around as much psychic stuff as possible. The second list has them split up in different squads generally while the warlocks split up as well. The warlocks with the Witchblades are the ones with the Farseers.

Helvost wrote:The second list looks better because I don't think firedragons are really worth it in the new codex. There is enough other AT options out there especially with how cheap brightlances are now.
The Fire Dragons are to deal with MCs, Armor and things such as Paladin squads. The Wave Serpents will hopefully allow me to get close to fliers and be able to get at least one 6 with the Dragons when I put guide on them. The bright lances as well allow me to take down armor from range, however I have thought of switching them to scatter lasers to fulfill more of an AA role. I do not know however if this cripple my ability to deal with AV 12+.
Helvost wrote:In the second list, I would drop the night spinner for an equal amount of warp spiders, and also put spears on all 4 warlocks.
I could do this, and it seems a good trade, however will this cause problems when dealing with hordes?
Helvost wrote:I would also drop the holo fields on the war walkers and exchange a squad of vypers for another fire prism. I think fire prisms are pretty awesome since they each have a str5 ap3 large blast and a str 9 ap 1 lance. Its super versatile and a pain to kill.
HF on the WW are almost mandatory for me. Wile it is a little expensive combined with outflank there is a very good chance that I can get at the very least a 4+ and many times a 3+. I am also not sold on Fire Prisms as they have only do what I want them to do 1/3 of the time. It could be in my application but it is a point sink non the less. Either the are killed right away or on a guided Fire Prism I failed to hit two turns in a row... I will play test it however and see if two make a big difference in my opinion and application.
Helvost wrote:It looks like a pretty solid list if you have all the jetbikes to field it. Goodluck out there
I actually have a few more... Thank you sir.
Purple Saturday wrote:Honestly, I'm starting to think taking Warlocks might actually be worth it, especially for bike squads. You are guaranteed to buff their 5+ jink to a 3+ if you get a power you really don't want, but more importantly, you might roll and attain the ability to buff your 3+ armor save to a 2+. That possibility is invaluable if you think you might be running into a lot of weapons that are AP 3 and ignore cover... so Helldrakes.
This would be amazing, if the warlocks were not LD 8. I actually starting to think that it is not worth the 55 point investment due to low LD, on the flip side though I have had one hold up to Saint Celestine, a Sargent with a Power fist and a few other challenges that have allowed me to win games. Things would be a lot different if they were LD 9, at least then they would bump up the squads LD.
That is the idea, then stack which ever one doesn't have a spear with a Farseer. Thank you sir.
