Subject: GK and DA for a team tournament next Saturday.

A friend and I are going to play in a 2,000 point team tournament next Saturday, where both team members take a separate 1,000 point FOC. He is bringing his Dark Angels list which is listed below. I'm not positive on all of the details but in a nutshell it should be something like:
librarian
3x10 tac squads with flamer and missile launcher
1x9 sniper scouts with camo cloaks
1x9 devastators w/4 missile launchers
bastion with quad-gun
My list is as follows:
Coteaz (attaches to paladins for divination buffs)
10 paladins, 4 psycannons, 2 hammers, 4 halberds, psybolt ammo
5 man strike squad w/psycannon
ADL w/quad gun
10 warrior acolytes (to man the quad gun)
I think we have a decent amount of firepower with the 2 quad guns to shut down fliers, a passable amount of anti-tank fire with the seven missile launchers and 5 psycannons, and a good number of PA or TA bodies on the field. Maneuverability is the biggest weakness and without good cover it might be hard moving those tac squads or strike squad onto objectives. I haven't played much 6th edition yet, so I'm not really sure what kinds of armies we'll be facing, but I think we have a pretty solid take all comers list. Love to hear any advice or criticism.

Hey there!
I think that your list is ok but as you have already said , it lacks maneuverability .. I don't know a lot about DA so no comment's there , but I know that terminators (even the mighty paladins) are too vulnerable this days due to a lot ap2 weapons .. So I suggest you reconsider bringing them to the party .. Quad gun is twin linked but having a bs 3 acolyte to man it isn't really helpfull IMHO ..
I would go with this list if I were you (supposing you have the units and it's in your playstyle these specific units) :
Hq:
Coteaz 100 (prescience for re-rolls and looking for a "4" for no cover blessing)
Troops:
1st Henchmen Unit: 3x plasma cannon servitors ( alot of firepower and with prescience you re-roll both the "1" and the blasts) + 2x Jokaero (random benefits but give you a lot of edge and don't forget when you 'll roll the second you add +1 to the result) + 7x bolter warrior acolytes 1 (acolytes are used as meatshields and a bit of extra shooting) (you ll have to put this unit into a ruin for 4+ cover if you won't have ADL) 165 (they all go with Coteaz)
2nd Henchmen Unit: 3x warrior acolytes w/ 3x bolters + Lascannon Razorback w/ dozer blade 100
3rd Henchmen Unit: 3x warrior acolytes w/ 3x bolters + Lascannon Razorback w/ dozer blade 100
Fast Atk:
10x Interceptors w/ 2x psycannons + 8x swords + psy ammo 300
Heavy Support:
1x Dreadknights w/ heavy Incinerator + teleporter 235
If you want to add an ADL just leave the 3rd henchmen unit out but instead of quad gun go with Icarus lascannon and let Coteaz to man it as he would already have re-roll from prescience
Hope that helps!!

Hi
Actually Draigowing with paladins can still work (check the battlerep there are some great ones with it). However they need Draigo then to tank it for them.
At 1k point it will be difficult.
So i agree on a Coteaz based list, however i would not take lascanon as i find them too expensive for razorbacks and would prefer just psy heavy bolter and improve the acolytes with some plasmaguns. Three plasma acolytes wih chimera or psyback will be a bit less expensive then your 3 naked acolytes with lascanon razorback for better firepower i think.
Otherwise i love the DK and interceptors too as you really need to be the mobile part of your army, just dont send them down too early alone, you have a huge firebase so hold a bit to thin the enemy out before (unless he is TAU....)

Really good advices sleekid !! the only reason I added the Las Razorbacks is the anti-vehicle nature they bring into the list .. Of course the DA guy has 4x ML for this but you never know when you 'll have to shoot Termies or a Riptide or something that needs ap2 to be killed .. Those were my thoughts anyway

Thanks for the good replies guys. In the future, I'll be moving towards more of an Inquisitorial warband centered list, but at the moment I lack the models to really do so. I basically have some IG that will stand in for the warrior acolytes, and at this point I don't even have any special weapons for them. I like the idea of trying to add in the shunting dreadknight and interceptors. They would be even better if I were able to make them scoring with grand strategy. Henchmen in razorbacks also seems like it could form a nice core for an army, with either the lascannons or the psybolters (depending on what is needed based on the rest of the list).
I have a couple of razorbacks so I might just drop the strike squad for a lasback with 3 acolytes. After that I'm not sure. I need to grab my codex and do some more thinking.

If you need antitank, a razorback with 3 melta henchmen will be better then a lasback i think (and less espensive).
Or you could take the lascanon + twin plasma on the razorback if you REALLY wanted antitank and were ready to spend a lot on a fragile vehicle

As you have already said yourself Razorback is a fragile vehicle indeed , so that's why I want it shooting at 48" and not at 24" ..Moreover it has a bs of 4 (henchmen being only 3) , is twin-linked (plasma henchmen can have "get's hot" and then save at a 5+) and the las is str 9 compared to plasma's str 7 ... I really agree that a chimera has a lot better AV but we are talking about a unit that adds more shooting to your list than a "defensive"/"durable" unit that can attract enemy's fire and withstand it (or I'm mistaken?) ... I won't even comment the idea of 3x melta henchmen in the razorback (especially for a tourney) as you are clearly making fun of it

Actually do you really think that henchmen will be first priority in this kind of list?
And is he really going to need to go forward?
I think given his list and his friends, they are mainly going to wait and defend while having a few mobile units for late game obj grabbing or contesting.
In that case, i think that the psyback with 3 armed acolytes in it would be the best choice (for lascanon + TL plasma yes i was joking), for the melta henchmen, why not, if someone TPs (Trygon, Dreadknight, Termies, Oblis) they wont need the range with a transport.
And i think that the razorback being the focus would be a mistake given his composition, then you might think differently...

I totally agree with you about the strategy and yes the psyback is the best choice for this..but then they got only the MLs if they need to deal with av 14 .. Maybe an opponent will try to get the First Blood vp so the Razorback will be focused ..I don't know it depends the army / night fighting rule / strategy ...

Well if he gets the DK he has something else for AV14, interceptors as well, whether with psycanon or hammer (ok difficult with psycanon but it happens^^)
And he still has 7 of those ML, 4 of them TL
