I am trying to make a competative Nurgle army. The instruments/icons are to get the GUO down early, and where I want him. This list is built around missions that requiring holding multiple objectives. I plan to have the plague bearers secure those while everyone else pushes on the enemy, causing them to be focused down.

I also considered giving my soul grinder the torrent flamer (str 6 ap4) and deep striking him. If I did this I would use the extra points to get another plague bearer squad and instrument, to increase his chance of coming in turn two. This would help against Tau with their pathfinders or fire warriors in cover.

first things first mate:

the instruments only work when the unit with it comes in from reserve, and the instrument allows another to come in immediately.

however IIRC the icons cannot be used if the unit has just come down.

therefore put the icons on units starting on the table. personally i would put one on the plague drones.

Also unless you want Plague marines as troops i wouldn't bother taking chaos allies at all.

Also for me one of the main strengths about daemons is the buffs that heralds provide units, something to seriously consider.

All anyone wants in the world is to be accepted. Except me, i don't give a S%@t.

Thanks for the input. First, and most importantly, awesome avatar. As far as the icon goes, you are thinking of the last codex. Currently there is nothing that stipulates that a unit must start the turn on the board for the icon to work. I understand plague marines are awesome, I have 14 I use for my CSM army, but I am trying to keep my allies cheap. I feel like the helldrake gives me a good unit to punish things that rely on cover, while the oblits give me something I am lacking…. Shooting. I agree, nurgle heralds are awesome, the only reason I didn’t go with one is that I am only using my plague bearers to hold objectives, and they wont fit into any other unit , at least I have a GUO still =D

Thanks very much

Possibly, i would check that though. I thought there was something. If not then fair do's.

Fair enough, i can understand the need for keeping the cost down.

I feel like the helldrake gives me a good unit to punish things that rely on cover, while the oblits give me something I am lacking…. Shooting.

I agree the helldrake will help, and the oblits will provide shooting but for me soul grinders fulfill that roll just as well, and with MoN are probably more survivable than oblits.

thats fair enough, if you are planning to sit back with them i guess the heralds have limited effect.

I'd take the icon off your plaguebearers and give it to the plague drones, plaguebearers will take 4 turns to be on the edge of your opponents deployment zone sans deep striking whereas with plague drones moving on average 19 inches a turn you can have your GUO in their deployment zone turn 2. I'd also reccommend dropping the greater reward to make him a level 3 on biomancy

Ceann, I plan on deepstriking the two plague bearer squads to get them and the GUO down the field fast (hence why they have instruments too). I really like the idea of the third biomancy power. I was trying to get him psyker three, but I couldn’t find a way to free up the points, and I feel the third power will be stronger than the greater reward.
