The guys at my local Gaming Club play some highly competitive lists, the last list I came up against was a wraith spam & seer council star hunkered down in an ADL with bike and war walker support etc, it was really nasty, so I'm hoping with the new codex I can make a TAC list from units I own and have painted.

So here's the list:

For a change I stayed away from using my TAC termi star with marneus as it doesn't fair well in this edition I've found, which is a shame because it's my favourite unit.

Scouts for camping a deployment zone objective, libby(warlord) attached just because there's nowhere else to stick him really.

Bike MOTF zips around fixing the vehicles, can be sacrificed for a linebreaker VP if needed or tie up a shooty enemy squad in combat for a turn or 2.

I haven't played so much since Tau became good but I hear AV13 is kinda their weakness so I decided to spam that, I expect to see a lot of nasty (riptide spam etc)tau armies at the club.

So what do you all think? is it a competitive list, are there things that need changing? I have a few other units that could be swapped out but personally I felt this current list is almost optimal for what I have to use.

Cheers!

Aren't mortis heavy support? Makes list illegal. Plus you've got no real lOng range. I play more defensively tho so YMMV.

I've used 2 sniper dreads in the past, TL LC and ML, TL ACs don't cut it without psybolts imo, they do draw fire quite well but with AV 12 they're not that durable and I don't feel they're killy enough for the points. I don't feel hunkering down at longer range is viable when most shooty armies will vastly outshoot codex marines at ranges past 24".

I have an LC pred with LC sponsons and enough las cannnon marines and other stuff to make up some dev squads, but I've never found long range shooting to be all that effective in the vanilla codex.

The idea of the force is to saturate the field with av13 dominating the centre of the table while putting out 36 rending shots and 3 pie plates.

Another thing I was wondering was to go with pods or rhinos? I have a feeling pods could be a better delivery system for the tac squads in this edition.

No worries, it's why the libby has termi armour and a combi weapon it was the only way I could get the army to exactly 2k while using scouts which are now oddly costed if you take tellion.
