Hi all,

With the release of the new Space Marine Codex I am in need of adding to my 2,000 Point list due to some price reductions that mean I now have some more points to spend. What I have so far is:

Master of the Forge - Conversion Beamer with 2 Heavy Bolter Servitors
Techmarine - Full Servo Harness and Power Axe with 3 Servitors

Venerable Dreadnought - Assault Cannon and Drop Pod
Venerable Dreadnought - Twin-Linked Lascannon and Missile Launcher

Tactical Squad - 10 Marines, Missile Launcher, Flamer, Combi-Melta, Rhino (Please note NOT a Veteran Sarge)
Tactical Squad - 10 Marines, Missile Launcher, Flamer, Combi-Melta, Rhino (Please note NOT a Veteran Sarge)
Tactical Squad - 10 Marines, Missile Launcher, Flamer, Combi-Melta (Please note NOT a Veteran Sarge)

Bike Squad - 8 Bikes, 2 Melta Guns + Attack Bike with Multi-Melta

Ironclad Dreadnought - Ironclad Assault Launchers, Hunter Killer Missile, Drop Pod
Dreadnought - Drop Pod
Thunderfire Cannon

By my count this equals 1858 (feel free to check me) therefore what my question is, how should I spend the remaining 142 points?

Please note that the above are set and predominantly painted. (Although should I change the attack bike to Heavy Bolter?) Any feedback or ideas are welcome. I was considering another Dread, but then I thought my troop section looks a little weak. The other option is to take more servitors to protect my Techmarine and Master of the Forge, or take a unit of Servitors to sit near the THunderfire. Not sure I want to add to the fast attack due to fluff reasons.

Thanks for your time.

I would edit the bike squad to be 3 bike squads with grav guns and attack bike w/ HB. If you cant fit 3 then 2 strong would be ok.

As much as people complain about the looks centurions are devistating I'm game with the grav cannons. Though you would have to trim points to take them. Or consider a storm talon. A flier with "it will not die" kinda nice.

A Stalker or hunter would be a nice addition to give you a solid AA unit. I like the Stalker for general AA and the Hunter for dedicate heavy armor AA (think hellturkey)

Ok, thanks everyone for the input and advice. Now please don't think I haven't taken everything on-board, but I have made the decision to add a Terminator Captain to the list.

I did this for a number of reasons, firstly, I already have the model converted to have a lot of bionics and painted (he was a hold over from when Iron Hands could take Sergeants in Terminator Armor) I really like the job I did painting him and his conversions, look out for him to soon appear in my painting and modelling blog.

Secondly, I felt that with the FNP and IWND chapter traits I should be making more use of the Iron Hands characters, therefore throw a guy in with a 2+/4++ in the foot slogging tactical squad and I dare someone to try and shoot me off of an objective with him up front.

So maybe not entirely competitive, but I always liked Terminator led Tactical Squads and I love my converted model so he is in.

Thanks again for the advice though.

There's no need for the Power Axe on the Techmarine. You already have a pair of Servo Arms, which are better in every way. Use the points for a Storm Shield on your captain.

Just a small change;

put your ironclad as an elite choice, and the lascannon/ml one as HS.

your ironclad is more likely to die than the shooty one, and the shooty one can always sit back and be scoring in Big Guns missions.

8,000 pts and counting
1,000 points, now painting.

Terminator captains are good for a combi-grav, or the relic Primarch's wrath. both are Salvo and TDA grants relentless.

Good Point about moving the Dreadnoughts around the FOC.

I will more than likely remove the power axe from the Techmarine as I have yet to paint him and it is a simple conversion, but what should I stick in the empty hand.....

As to spending the then freed up 15 points I am not sure I want to do the conversion of a shield to the already painted Terminator, will need to think on that, same thing goes for giving him a combi-grav or Primarch's Wrath, I am almost done with this army and not sure I want to start back tracking on finished models.

Thanks for all the input though.

I'd just leave the Axe in his hand, it's cool and it's not like it would mean anything had you bought it anyway.
