Hello Dakka!
I always liked the Macharius tank, but model itself is incredibily expensive. (100 Pounds -> 3000CZK Wich is moar than my monthly allowance

)
As I searched through the net and lots of
40k galleries, I found few Land Raiders converted to serve as Macharius.
I was most inspired by this beauty. Rogal Dorn battle tank.

So I bought a Land Raider kit (For 1200CZK) and started converting.
By measures, Land raider is almost same size of a original Macharius tank. With turret a bit higher.
I made a model of a turret using AutoCad, then Pepakura to unfold it and print, then used the good ol' plasticard to materialize my idea.
Because I never used plasticard before, alot of accidents happend. Mostly cutting myself.
This picture is actually half-glued together. (Just the turret. Hull is only dry-fit)
Now, drilled holes. Used a jig attachment - diameter 25mm (designated for sawing wood) for drill, and a standart issue plastic water pipe I found in the garage, as a turret base.
And this is the monster I drill on. 30y/o pedestal drill - 650W (Now a 2mm drill attached for drilling Bolters)
Now, drowned in Green Stuff.
And the today's progress...
.......
Things to do:
- Attaching headlights to turret
- stealing another Leman Russ muzzle barke. Have only one on my bits box :( (I'll use magnets for faster acquiuring)
- completing the turret (both main construction and details)
- lighting whole model with LEDs (Headlights, targeting lasers)
- completing the hull of a Land Raider
- painting (winter camouflage)
- kicking some asses
Hawky out
