Hello, I haven't played for awhile and I want a good all round army to get me back into the game that will fair well against most other armies.
I've never been keen on fast attack, I leave that for my Eldar army, I want SM to be solid with awesome fire power. Mainly using models I all ready own, I've made the following;
HQ = 375;
Captain, storm bolter, lightning claw = 110
Command squad, company champion, apothecary, thunder hammer, and the rest with power weapons (Including apothecary) = 205
Razorback, Storm Bolter = 60
Troops = 440;
10 man Tactical squad, flamer, missile launcher, combi-melta = 170
Rhino, storm bolter, Hunter Killer Missiles = 50
10 man Tactical squad, flamer, missile launcher, combi-melta = 170
Rhino, storm bolter, Hunter Killer Missiles = 50
Elites = 395;
Dreadnought, assault cannon, heavy flamer, venerable = 155
5 man Terminator squad, assault cannon, power fists = 240
Heavies = 285;
5 man Devastator squad, missile launcher, lascannon, plasma cannon, multi melta = 130
Predator, twin linked lascannons, side mounted lascannons, storm bolter, hunter killer missiles. = 155
Tactics are;
HQ will go for the highest point value unit
Troops will take and hold objectives, (can combat squads hold objectives, ie Rhino goes to first objective, 5 men disembark, Rhino continues to next?)
Elites will march down the centre of the field, engaging all infantry.
Heavies are purely anti-tank, devastators will hold up on high ground on the edge of the table, I'm still unsure what big guns I should give them, so I've gone for one of each. although is multi melta too short a range weapon and is the get hot plasma too much of a risk if it manages to fire every turn?
I would really appreciate your opinions and what I should tweak.
