Alright, I have sent an Article to Beasts of war, an email and generally attempted to touch base concerning the Mierce Miniatures Kickstarter and there is nothing. Not a peep, no a reply no movement at all. Is there anything I should be aware of in reference to Beasts of War and Mierce. A better way to make beasts of war aware or come to the understanding that they are being ignored?

Was curious if I was missing something?

UK

Beasts of War are friends and associated of Wayland games (biggest UK mixed games distributor/store)

Mierce are owned by the same chap that used to run Maelstrom Games (their big rival).

Maelstrom failed for a variety of reasons (GW international shiping embargo, over-ambicious expansion, management issues etc), but the final nail in the coffin was Wayland buying up their debts and calling in the loan which they couldn't pay, thus loosing 'money' but killing their main rivals (clearly a smart business move on their part so basically no valid complaints about it.

and in this process other creditors also lost out. Maelstrom might well have failed anyway (possibly with a big negative impact on the UK games distribution chain), or probably less likely they might have been able to struggle on as a much smaller player paying back their debt over time. We'll never know which

My speculation

BOW my just not like the Mierce stuff (unlikely)

they may be showing solidarity with their mates at Wayland
(if this is the case I feel it's foolish)

or they may feel that Maelstroms former owner does not deserve any support as some gamers lost out when is business failed.

I can understand the latter position, but Mierce did what it could to minimise peoples losses (where they had NO legal obligation to do so) by supply the outstanding Mierce parts of peoples orders. I think people deserve a second chance, and the KS1 fulfilment shows they are making the most of it

Assuming they are showing solidarity with Wayland, with the recent break I wonder if they will break away from that solidarity and make a move on this. Based on some things they have covered, I can't help feeling they are dodging the coverage quite on purpose at this point.

Thanks for the info and any of those options explains a lot.

Between the fulfillment early, great customer service, and minimizing losses while under no legal obligation I would say its probably time to acknowledge the changes and let the phoenix fly.

Lots of people lost a lot of money when Maelstrom continued to lie to them with an endless chain of 20%-OFF WAREHOUSE-MOVING-SALE promotions when they were clearly not ordering in new stock or getting in stock to fulfil orders that had been taken and paid for, in some cases months before. They were in a Death Spiral before Wayland put the final bullet in.

If Rob Lane's carefully spun-off business had offered Mierce-credit to the many people who were ripped off by Maelstrom, then I'd be onboard with all of the forgiveness talk. The Mierce fulfilment was carefully done with the sole reason to help salvage the reputation of the fledgling company and try to buy some goodwill back - though that stuff was also paid for to Lane and co.

If Beasts of War make an informed decision not to support Mierce (and they would be as informed as anyone of exactly what happened), then you should respect that choice instead of expecting them to get over it. It hasn't even been a year, after all.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I'll just add this - you'll notice I'm NOT active in the Mierce KS thread, gaking up the place by reminding people of their recent actions. It could very well have been otherwise, but I've been letting that thread rest for a long time now. My post here is also quite matter-of-fact.

Please bear this in mind before making replies that are also attacks.
