Hey,
Something that really confused me when the new Tau codex came out was the fact that there was no Railgun option for the XV104 Riptide. It would be exactly the same one on the Hammerhead, S10 AP1 solid shot or a S6 AP4 Large Blast.

A Nova profile for the Weapon could be... Solid Shot S10 AP1 Ordnance?? and the Subumition could be S7 AP3 Large Blast??

Would this be OP? Would you take it over the Ion Accelerator? How much should the Option Cost? Why do you think the option for a railgun was not included?

A single-shot weapon on expansive BS 3 model would be useless. A twin-linked rail cannon on the other hand...

I had overlooked that, I forget the Riptide is only BS3, If you made it a TL Rail-cannon then for an additional 10 points so a Riptide with it would cost 190?

Seems fair to me. I'm not a balance expert, but it doesn't look overpowerd in any way.

Please tell me that is sarcasm. A twin linked S10 ordinance weapon in the tau army? You realize two marker lights would basically guarantee a hit and strength ten ordnance will most assuredly pen just about every vehicle you fire it at and have a 50% of blowing it up right there. At ten points no less.

It's over 200 points for a single shot, if you count markerlights. For 250 you can buy 2 rail-heads. And riptide already has a Str 9 ordnance weapon which is LARGE BLAST. Railcannon is quite a downgrade compared to that.

It maybe a downgrade but why do you think it was excluded as an option, it seems like the kind of weapon that you could mount on a Riptide?

Yes, it would look cool and some people would probaly use it for heavy tank hunting. It's sad that designers didn't include it in the rules.
