Hey lads n lasses,

I'm new to the site but I'm seeking help, I've got an 1850 tournament at the end of November and I'm not sure what to take to give me a real top 10 sort of chance, I'm running Slaanesh marines at the mo, with some nurgle thrown in for resilience, although I'm not adverse to taking daemons too.

My current model quota follows:

Lucius
Nurgle Lord On Bike
Terminator and power armoured sorcerers of Slaanesh

8 Terminators
Noise Marines : 4 Champions, 4 Blastmasters and about 12 Sonic Blasters
80 Cultists (I know)
30 odd standard CSMs
10 Plague Marines
5 Nurglet Bikers
2 Heldrakes
Vindicator
Predator
3 Nurgle Oblits
4 Rhinos
Any suggestions and help would be most welcome.

Erm. Dunno where to start really, I would first decide if you want an easier ride at the expense of your opponents rage, as if you want a somewhat milder ride, take the Drakes. I would suggest a nugle lord on bike and a retinue of melta/assault bikers to zoom around shooting and being tough, with troops being 1 lot of 10 plagueys in a rhino, and a mass of cultists (i would suggest 1 unit of 30 to start on the board, and a few more of 10 to start in reserve and only come on to take backfield objectives) The Drakes, rhinomarines and Bikes will give you a nice assaulty push, but now you decide if you want to bolster that with even more rhino marines or some noise marines to abuse the living daylights out of Blastmastes in 5 men units. Oblits are always good, and i would go against taking vehicles (even if they're so so so pretty and awesome :C) unless you plan on losing kill points to the myriad of melta spam that still seems to be lingering on since 5th.
Oh, and if you really want you could use MSU of 3 man termies with various combi-weapons to warp down and light some poor unit up, then attract and tank a chunk of fire.
Does this help? And welcome to Dakka, i'm new too!

Bad luck?! Schmad luck!

This list tends to win tournaments from what ive heard:

3X3 oblits with MoN

3 heldrakes

typhus
lots of cultists

Kind of boring and cheesy, but it works

Thanks very much guys, I do love my blastmasters, I generally try and fit all 4 in, but the units get a bit pricey, although popping Aun Va with the first shot of the game in my last tourney was hilarious, and again in a game last week, Tigurius and a unit of Devastators hiding in the bushes got hit with (what I like to imagine is full volume Celine Dion) sonic death.
