Hey guys,
I am rather new to 40k, I have been playing and getting adjusted to all the rules for about 2 months now. I am starting to play at the local tournaments in my area and doing pretty well. My meta is full of Space Marine type armies and spotted with a few tyranid armies as well. The SM armies tend to be either shooter, melee, or rush type blends. This is a list that I came up with with the hopes of trying to blend armies to compensate for the others' weaknesses. I am looking for advice on the list, as well as, how I could streamline the list or if I have a misunderstanding of the rules. I will be blending the usual Tau, with Farsight Enclave and Grey Knight detatchments. So here goes...
HQ Tau:
Commander 157pts
Iridium Armor, Drone Controller, Command/Control Node, 2 Marker Drones
(Commander would join the subseqent Farsight Enclave Crisis suit team to boost their marker drones)
Troops
Farsight:
Crisis Suit x3 258pts
T/L Plasma Rifle, T/L Fusion, 2 Marker Drones
Tau
10 FireWarriors 90pts
10 FireWarriors 90pts
Heavy Support
2 MissleSide 188pts
Target Lock, 2 Missle Drone
RailSide 70pts
T/L Heavy Rail Rifle, Target Lock
HammerHead 190pts
Longstrike, SMS, Disruption pod, Sensor Spines
Farsight Heavy Support
Riptide O'Vesa 305pts
ion accelerator, twin-linked fusion blaster,
riptide shield generator, early warning
override, stimulant injector, two
shielded missile drones, Earth Caste
Pilot Array.
Grey Knight Detatchment
HQ
Librarian 210pts
Homer, 1 Servo SKull, Power: Summoning
Fast Attack
Interceptor Squad 130 pts
Storm Raven 205pts
Troops
Strike Squad 100pts
Tau Tactics
The goal is for the commander to join the Crisis Unit to mark up high priority targets and pop things with 2+ armor saves and heavy armor, The RailSide and Hammerhead will help assist with the heavy armor or apply preasure to maybe force them into cover.
The MissleSides and Riptide will be to handle hordes or large squads.
The Firewarriors will hang back in cover, providing Supporting fire to the broadsides or non moving units should melee get too close. Then near the ending turns of the game race to objectives if there are any.
The Grey knight Tactics
I would load the strike squad into the Stormraven and race it towards a Squad that has Lascannons or other strong ranged weaponry and engage them in combat ASAP.
The Interceptor squad would do the same with their personal teleporter to force pressure on their other troops or ranged weaponry.
The Librarian would either hang in cover mid board and summon them back to him once the Strike/interceptor squad was out of combat to save them from being charged by the opponent, or make his way to a secondary target then summon one of the other melee options once they were able to do so.
So in short, I am trying to keep their shooting units in combat, shut down their heavy support asap, spam and shut down their units, then clean up objective at the end of the game.
Thoughts?
