Hiya, so last night i shaded my 5th dark eldar but for some reason after letting it dry over night it appears very shiny/glossy i've used the same bottle of nuln oil for all of my figures and this has never happened before.

So my questions are: why do you think this has happened? And can i rectify it at all or will i have to strip it?

Thanks in advance.

Easily fixed after the model is finished by giving it a coat of matt varnish

Make sure you shake the pot before use.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

to expand on what bubber said, I've seen a few folks mention that nuln oil, in particular, will separate a bit over time and sometimes result in a glossy finish. shaking it well before each use should prevent that.

Thanks for the replies, so will using matte varnish once its finished take away the glossy finish or wil putting a thin layer of paint over the bits that went wrong and going over it again with the nuln oil work?

matte varnish will take away the glossy finish. that's exactly what it's meant to do

I've noticed the same thing. I think it has something to do with the cold weather change. Either use matte varnish or leave it to dry under a lamp.
