So getting bored of shooting everything up with my DA army so have decided to start a Blood Angels army but want to get a good list together before I start splashing the cash.
After a good few attempts I have come up with this.

HQ
Librarian, JP 125 (Sheld and sword or shield and prescience)

Troops

10 ASM, 2 MG, 2 Infernus pistol 240
10 ASM, 2 F, PW 215

Elite

5 Vanguard, 1 extra PW, 5 MB, JP 205
2 Sanguinary Priest, JP 150
5 Terminators, TH/SS 225

Imperial Fist Allies

HQ
Librarian. Lvl2 90

Troops
5 Scouts, 4 sniper, 1 ML W/Flakk 84

Heavy Support

6 Devestators, 4 LC 164

1500

The Devestators, scouts and IF librarian sit back on home objective and provide a fire-base. Took a level 2 librarian for 2 rolls on divination. Ignore cover or 4++ save make the devastators even more deadly especially when combined with prescience and IF chapter tactics of tank hunter. The Flakk on the scouts provide AA along with the 4 TL LC with tank hunter and possibly ignore cover.

The BA Librarian, 1 sanguinary preist and the flamer ASM start on the table and if needed can provide a screen for the devastators whilst moving up to my opponents deployment zone

The other ASM squad arrives via deepstike and combat squads to take out vehicles. 2 MG in one squad and a sergeant with 2 infernus pistols in the other. Similarly, the Vanguard deepstrike in and assault vehicles or use heroic intervention to assault vulnerable targets or a high-priority unit and then be supported by the terminators in the following turn (All goes well).

Terminators deepstike and seek combat.

Second priest comes down with one of my deepstriking units most likely the ASM to provide a FnP bubble .

I think the biggest weakness with the army is that the devastators and scouts will be very exposed during the game as I push forward and I am reliant on the devastators for my long range fire. I am considering dropping a PW from the Vanguard squad to get another meat shield devastator in the squad.

Also another worry is that the BA librarian may very well get slaughtered in combat giving away an easy victory point

What do you think of the army?
Would it be competitive?

You can't mix codex and book powers on the libby.

VV are awful for the price.

Foot slogging terminators will never get there.

FIRST OFF, never put a powerfist on your BA sgts anymore, allocate those to the sang priest, he has a higher WS and it costs the same, 2nd, VV are expensive in the new C:SM, even more so in ours, drop them, instead take some sternguard, they work well for me, specially if I stick corbulo with them.

terminators are lack luster, even more so for BA as it takes away your speed.

with the points from the VV and terminators you could possibly squeeze in another assault squad and mephiston, seriously, in any game 1250+ TAKE MEPHISTON. he is your cheese, corbulo and mephy is some of the only cheese we get.

also, instead of IF, ally in a dark angel libby with a bike and a PFG, attach to a squad of ASM and run mephy with them, enjoy 4++ goodness on 2 ASM squads and mephy with a bit of luck and tactical moving (unless he has lots of template weapons... then be cautious)

I was thinking about using Mephiston but with challenges i don't see being that effective.
For example, I charge a tactical squad with Mephiston. Tac sqd Issues challenge so I kill one model and get stuck for a turn.
Is he really that effective?

mephiston should not be charing a tac squad. he is a tank popping monster, a MC killer (with a propper DA libby ) and killing things that really can 't hurt him. another thing he brings, FEAR. people FEAR mephiston for what he CAN do, they will try to focus him giving your army the chance it needs to get close, now, if you rush mephy up out in the open, even with a DA libby giving him a 4++ and priest giving him a 5+ FnP he will die most likely.

After looking at the rules for grenades again I see what your saying about the Vanguard.
What would your opinion be on a Honour guard sqd, JPs, 3 MG and a company Standard instead?

BA honor guard work well with a libby for prescience, just give am all plasma guns.

I suppose if I dropped the terminators I could swap the VV for a plasma gun honour guard leaving 190 points for possibly a 3rd Assault sad.
However I still feel reluctant to let go of the terminators 2+,3++ and 5+ FnP is hard as nails.

the thing is, most things your gonna throw your terminators at will more often negate the FnP than now.

Terminators are hit and miss units, with the missing coming up more often than not these days. they are the MC/big boy killers. they can smash most things BUT hordes. if they were T5 for their points then I may use them a lot more. but for BA, your just wasting points on a unit that really does not synchronize well with your army.

fair enough.

What do you use for AA. Its a bit risky but could an honour guard squad w/ a lib do the job?

By the way thank you for all the replies
