Hey! Good to have you. Unfortunately you might find grey knights to kind of drive themselves these days. They have certain weapons that if you bring enough of just sort of do damage. You might find it challenging to make a strong list that doesn't spam lots of these weapons. Head over to the army lists forum and have at it!

And if you're looking to do something different i'd make your old SM as Blood angels, as it's a change in tactics from the regular SM and the models are all the same except for special units

Thanks for all your welcoming words,

I did look at blood angels as i likes a few of their units (dread and baal) they just seem very very overpowered to me.
They seem quite close combat orientated, is this the case? (At work and dont have my codex with me)
I would quite like a more "shooty" based force, im at a toss up between imperial fists but i really dont like yellow :p

You can always just use the Imperial Fists tactics in a chapter of your own devising and paint scheme.

I previously did my own chapter and i couldn't get on with not having a true scheme to work to.
I like the look of black templars but i dont like the close combat sort of role

i will have another look through the codex.

Check out the Iron Hands Chapter and rules. Black and Silver paint scheme, and they focus more on not dying rather than Close Combat.

I don't have the SM codex, but aren't the crimson fists an IF successor chapter? So if you're into the red n' blue then they're for you!

But yes, the BA are CC orientated. They're not as overpowered as they look though, as all the HQs had power axes before they were unwieldy, so they all attack at initiative 1

But I feel like that's a good thing, as it means that they require a lot more finesse and cunning to use in this very shooty edition.
