Tigurius
Calgar
5 man Honor guard w/ chapter banner 2 relic blades 3 power axes
10 man tac w/ plasma gun in pod
10 man tac w/ plasma gun in pod
10 man tac w/ plasma gun in pod
10 man tac w/ plasma gun in pod
10 man tac w/ plasma gun in pod
5 Sternguard in pod w/ 5 combi meltas
Iron clad w/ HF/HF in pod
Storm raven TL AC/ TL MM TL hurricane bolters- (Tiggy, clagar, and honor guard go here)

so, I COULD get another unit of tacs + some HWs for them if I drop calgar, but then I lose a lot of the strategic stuff from the army (fail morale saves at will, use a CT twice per game... basically pick my warlord trait, not to mention lose the ungodly beast that is calgar in melee lol)

but first turn I have 4 pods dropping down, 2nd turn the rest -should- follow (only 3) the first pods would be 2 tac units, sternguard, and iron clad. useing the tac. doc to give the tacs twinlinked and the sternguard reroll 1s to hit. opinions are welcome.

(I was considering dropping tiggy with the sternguard... but then he may get focused down)

I would choose Calgar OR Tigurius can make your battle plan based on one of them. They're both cool, they both have competitive rules, but that's an awful lot of points sunk into HQ.

And while Calgar is a baddy in combat, you can make scarier Chapter Masters, especially with the new Clan Raukan supplement. Many of your SM compatriots will be bringing lists with 2 or even 3 Chapter Master beatsticks (allies).

Drop pod lists should in essence be alpha strike armies. Your tac heavy and that's good for maximizing your 2-use doctrines but even twin-linked, bolters just don't kill that much. What if your opponent is mech'd up? Where is the AT in this list. What if your opponent is an air force? Where's your AA?

You need more killing power or the scoring units you have will just get eaten up by scarier, killier armies. Less tactical marines, more Sternguard, Ironclads, Thunderfire Cannons etc.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.
