Greetings Dakka,
Long time lurker first time poster. I am in need of some advice. I am about to play a campaign with planetary empires that involves people rolling around with different sized armies. Now when a army loses points, he needs to earn them back, so doing major damage is key. A unit needs to be fully destroyed to actually effect their army. I have slapped together a list that should be able to handle most armies and do a reasonable sum of damage. Im running the farsight enclave for those who like to state "You have no troops!"
HQ
Commander - 120
2 * Fusion blaster
Target lock
Troops
Crisis team- 124
1 suit 2 * burst cannon / VRT
2 suit 1 * bust cannon 1 * flamer
All with unnecessary bonding knife
Crisis team - 22
1 suit naked (For objective grab)
Elites
Riptide - 185
Ion accelerator
Fast Attack
Pathfinders - 48
Points - 500
Obviously the naked suit wont do much damage but with 22 points it gives me a second troop. Pathfinders offer marker support. Riptide is long range anti tank/TEQ/MEQ. Crisis suits are up in your grill with burst cannons to mess up the hordes(or whatever needs loads of fire), with supporting commander for anti heavy tank.
Remember, the list doesn't always have to win. Just cause a LOT of hurt.

Personaly 2 fusions on a commander is over kill normaly i explode tanks with the first one. mabe give him a 10pt weap instead of the second fusion and a flamer on the naked or reverse it seeing as ur commander will be in the thick of it anyways. I would also split all ur suits into solo but thats just me. It gives the enemy more targets and you can still run them as a "team" if need be. Also with solo suit he still needs a bonding knife it says all units that can must which means ur commander as well.

What weapon would you recommend in place of the FB? It will more likely than not be shooting at targets such as land raiders. Not many other weapons will do anything to it. Forgot the knife on the naked suit. I will add that in. Would you recommend any other models? I was contemplating broadsides in place of the riptide for so AA as well as the possibility of a hammer head and kitting the commander with other equipment, and putting MP on the suits.

Personally I would drop the pathfinders, take tl weps on your suits. And change the riptide to hbc and give it a earth caste pilot array. That way you still have your riptide, it's awesome aa, and can pump out 12 shots a turn without fear of get hot rolls turning sour.

The ECPA would be a boon, although in this campaign there is only 1 signature system per army, and i am using O'vesa in another unit. Is the HBC very good at anti air? those would only be about 2 str 6 hits per shot. and a 5-6 to do anything to most fliers. Twin linking the suits may help for sure but points wise would it be more efficient to add another gun? The marker light super it nice for removing cover and increasing BS when necessary.

Tbh you only have 4 marker lights anyway so your only going to get 2 hits at turn with bs3. And a bolter squad will probably kill atleast 2 models to force a leadership check so they will run turn 1/2. If you want an AA riptide, drop fw for 48pts. When you change to hbc you gain 5pts. This leaves you 53 points. 30 for ecpa and 20 for velocity tracker. That gives you skyfire for your 12 shots Automatically Appended Next Post: Drop pathfinders I meant lol

I have yet to try the Riptide as an AA platform. It sounds like you would be getting about 7 hits per per shooting phase, but that would remove the large blast terminator hunting capability. The list would be lacking atni TEQ. The markerlights (2hits) would be used to strip cover, and if they are placed into a ruin...they still would get shot up. Hmm. If the riptide were to switch to the HBC what would you use for TEQ hunting?

You suits. Give them plasmas if your worried about teq at this points level. Don't forget the hbc also has rending when it nova charges so it can still teq hunt. And it has it's secondary weapon. You could give it a plasma and then ripple fire it for 4 plasma shots at teq aswell (rapid fire range of course)

The list just looks a little short on templates which will be great agains the nid/guard player. how would you overcome that short coming?

Farsight Enclave allows you to take Crisis suits as troops. But you need to take at least one full team of 3, and everyone that can have a bonding knife takes one.

Try something like this,
Commander 105pts
Fusion/Flamer
Troops
3x Crisis team 129
Plasma/Flamer
Bonding Knives
Elites
Riptide 240
HBC
EWO/Velocity tracker,
Fusion
ECPA
This comes too 474 points total, leaving you 26 points free to add whatever you want, I wouldn't expect Land Raiders or many fliers in a 500pt game, but I'm sure no one's expecting a riptide either. then again, the riptide is cheaper than a land raider and most flier lists. The riptide alone has enough dakka to fight tanks and fliers effectively. the 12 shots from a nova charged riptide are rending so at best you can even pen a land raider with it. plasma to deal with TEQ, flamers to protect against charges and hordes. With that last 26 points I recommend a 2 marker drones, albeit not the best source of marker lights, but at this points level and wanting both a riptide and Crisis commander in a list is quite points heavy in a Enclaves list.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Remember, you wont need to hold many objectives if you kill your enemy outright. go after his troops, then sit on an objective protecting yourself, and attempt to always be atleast 18" away from your opponent to help stop from charging.

I like the list. Although it will require the last 26 points to go towards a single suit to have the 2 troops. Alright, i think ive got it. Thanks for all the input everyone.
