The purpose of this thread is to get some feedback on my overall Blood Angels build, as well as a realistic idea of how most players would feel about me using allies from the same codex even though the rulebook prohibits. Fluff wise, I don't see how it could be against the rules to ally a successor chapter with the main chapter. Makes a lot more sense to me than seeing Eldar play with Dark Eldar, for example.
I want to fill out an entire Force Organization chart of Angels Encarmine and then add allied detachments of Blood Angels with various special characters. For example, I would field a main force for Encarmine and add Dante w/ Sanguinary guard for allies. I don't see a problem with this, do you think most players would?
As for the main force organization chart I am buying/building/painting. I want suggestions on what options to have at my disposal to make this army competitive. I am going balls to the wall assault for this army because that's how I roll, but I know that type of army gets eaten alive in 6th. I don't mind losing, but I want to have fun and at least be competitive. I have played some miserable games against Tyranids because I have virtualy no heavy support so help me out please!!
HQ
Reclusiarch
Librarian
Troops
1-Tac Squad w/ rhino
2- Tac Squad w/ rhino
QUESTION- What is best to have for special and heavy weapons? I already have flamers and ML's, but I'm thinking of putting plasma guns in the Tac squads for better range. ML's seem versatile enough, and I think I'm going to repaint my lascannon and plasma cannon devestator to just be tactical squad options. Thoughts?
3- Assault Squad
4- Assault Squad
5- Assault Squad
That's 21 regular marines w/ BP&CS I have 2 Sergeants with PF and 1 with Hand Flamer. I will probably add flamers and melta guns to these squads for extra fire power 2 per 10 person squad... any reason not to use those slots for these guns? And I am not familiar with grav weapons, can BA even use them???
6- 30 Death company
Just for fluff purposes. Doubtful I would play big enough games to field 600 some odd pts of DC, but I figure I can build them like this just to have options on the roster
10 Boltgun
10 Power Axes&BP
10 BP&CS
gonna have to magnetize the backpacks so I can have JP if I want.
also have a DC dread that never gets used.... maybe someday.
Elites-
Terminator Assault Squad - 3 LC 2 TH
Sanguinary Preist(most often Corbulo)
Reg. Terminator Squad
Fast Attack-
2 Baal Pred
1 Bike Squad w/ Attack bike.
Heavy Support
Stormraven Gunship
Dreadnought- the one I have has MM ad PFw/SB
Something else... maybe devestators although I don't really want them in my list. I'm thinking vindicator.
basically, the Heavy Support slots are to be understated in my army. I need a lot of bang for the buck because I want use it only as support fire for the rest of the army. I just want a straightforward force that has a strategy and ientity, wih just enough options to account for different opponents without needing to totally change my build. After that, I can handle specific threats with allies.
Mainly, I would work on allied attachments led by different special characters. For example Captain Tycho w/ sternguards in a razorback, Mephiston with some kind of retinue, Dante w/ Sanguinary guard. etc etc. Do you think most people would complain that this is against the rules? I'm not always going to field both HQ's in one game so I don't think I'm just adding more HQ for the hell of it. To me this just makes sense!!
Thoughts on this? Am I building towards disaster with this type of list? The way I figure it, worse comes to worse I can put a couple manticores in an guard attachment and totally ignore heavy support from the blood angels.
I need help knowing how to get a little more punch out of my choices, using various weapons options. Thanks to any replies in advance.
