"Why is this model exclusive to the online store and not in my local game shop? The online store provides a unique opportunity for players to purchase a model so big we would otherwise not consider producing due to the high retail price it would fetch."

-PP on the extreme warpwolf model.

The feth? 50$ = £30.46 A.K.A no more than the price of many GW/PP, even corvus belli kits.

[though I can understand that shipping might be difficult]

Look at how much less metal Drago and Behemoth use than the extreme juggy and devastator despite similar pricing. I won't pretend to know all of the business workings behind it, but it seems PP saves money by keeping them direct only. Production run size, shipping weight, and packaging all play a part in the equation. too.

Actually you'll find that those warjacks use only slightly less pewter than the extreme sculpts.

It's essentially a way to keep it a limited run and not have to take up extra retail space at an FLGS. To mass produce the model to meet store demand may increase cost or become cost prohibitive.

Perhaps not, but it seems to be a functional business model for them.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

Please stop with the snark. Drago is TINY compared to the Extreme Jugger. A LOT of metal goes into them. Seriously, compare an Extremoth to a Behemoth. It is massive. Incidentally I have a pic of Drago next to an Extremoth (ignore the Junker Hulk in the middle)

See how diddy Drago is? I can do some good bicep curls with that Extremoth it is that big and heavy.

The Warpwolf, whilst I have no personal experience with, has a fair bit of metal too (the scenic base is also metal) and is very large. With postage at a bare minimum, you are looking at approx £44. HOWEVER, this WILL get hit with an import tax so you're looking at another £15-£20 on top of that. If you have a look around at various UK based FLGSs you'll see that Wargamestore.com currently have one of each of the Extreme WW and Extreme DTM for £65.

I Imagine it's down to profit margin. By selling models to us retailer they reduce the price (so we can make a profit) so, if it's going to be really popular it might be good to keep it in house and not have to discount any to sell to us.

This is the essence behind GW moving away from independent stockists, they realised that they have hit the plateux of turnover, now they have to decide how to make more profit from the same turnover... tbh I think they'll change their mind sooner rather than later.

but yesm back to point - more than likely profit margins rather than "price"

I have always referred to privateer press as GW-lite.

It seems others are finally noticing the pricing similarities.

TBH they can put the price were ever they want. People will buy the stuff.
