Hello all, ive read Del. lost before, but now that ive ordered unremembered empire i wanted to reread some of my HH novels again. Coming upon one part of the book left me with a serious question that i cant help but think would render the whole plot moot, and this is it.....
tags fixed.

I haven't read Del Lost, but I could assume that the Alpha Legionnaries may under-go psychic conditioning by their librarians to act as a form of psychic sheilding.
Or have their memories forced into their subconscious? or just be amazingly great actors?
Or maybe just an oversight by BL

What is the strongest weapon of mankind? The god-machines of the Adeptus Mechanicus? No! The Astartes Legions? No! The tank? The lasgun? The fist? Not at all! Courage and courage alone stands above them all! |

This crap shows up with Empy/Malcador and Kor Phaeron as well. There's more than a few instances of mega powerful psykers missing traitors.
Playing devils advocate, maybe you actually have to "probe" instead of "hear".

I've pointed this problem out multiple times.
The Emperor has been within speaking distance of Kor Phaeron. As has Magnus the Red.
The Heresy should have never happened due to that alone.

Just because you are a psyker, and a telepathic one on top of that, does not mean that you are constantly scanning the minds of 100% of the people around all the time. Pumping that much Warp-power through your brain is going to have some consequences.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

For a psyker as powerful as the Emperor, Magnus, or Malcador it has absolutely no consequences at all.
Magnus regularly scans the minds of those around him. He is skilled and powerful enough to do so without the second most powerful psyker in his Legion noticing.
It is also very in-character for the Emperor, who was a huge control freak.

To be fair, given that Kor Phaeron was one of the "chosen" of the Gods in becoming the architects of the Heresy it is possible that they collectively shielded him in some way to keep him alive for his future endeavours with Lorgar.

This might be a valid excuse if it weren't for the fact that the Emperor is portrayed as psychically more powerful than the Chaos Gods though. Which he is.

The Emperor who is still essentially "just a man" being more powerful than the Chaos Gods seems unlikely.
Out of curiosity, where is it stated that that's the case?

When he hit Horus with a blast of psychic power so devastating the Chaos Gods fled from Horus' body in fear of their lives.
When he was psychically devastating their realms while still leading the Great Crusade.
When he has been holding back Chaos from spilling into the materium entirely for ten thousand years.
The Emperor is not "just a man".
