ok, so the rhino gets focused, takes firepower off the 2 sterns dropping in there face.

Uh huh. Yes, that Rhino will take away two lascannons from the enemy for that turn. And you only have to pay 35 Points, 1 Kill Points, making 400+ points walk the table nad making 2 Kill Points just walk without a transport.
