Hey fellas just wanted to know what you thought of the below list?

Trying to go for some sort of second turn alpha strike, just wanted to know if anyone thought it would work?

Hive Tyrant:

Wings
Hive Commander
TL devourers with bugs

15 x Gene stealers with a Brood Lord
15 x Gene stealers with a Brood Lord

10 x Ymgarl Gene stealers

1 x Doom in a spore

1 x Mawloc

I'm thinking the stealers infiltrate into cover or behind walls as close to the enemy as possible whilst still getting cover and/or LOS blocked. Hive Tyrant also hides out of LOS if possible in my deployment zone. I go first and try weather the fire on the stealers from the enemy first turn.

Second turn I get a 2+ for units from reserves so "in theory" everything comes in... Mawloc comes in first and clears some room, Ymgarl pops out ready to assult, doom drops in (hopefully close enough :/ ) the remaining stealers move up to assault and also my Hive Tyrant flies over to provide support and synapse and I win!!!!

Easy?

I have 193 points left over also to spend... but this is some what close to what I was thinking with a turn 2 assault?

Please bear in mind my gaming group are kind of newbish and we don't play even close to the meta type amazing death star lists

Any feed back would be much appreciated!

People will tell you it's hard with Genestealers... and people would probably be right. But it would be pointless to advise you buy other figures when a new codex is almost certainly around the corner.

What other models do you have?

Me personally I have 8 half put together genestealers but currently I am using my mates army and he has around 5 x large box lids full of tyranids. Id assume he has everything he has been collecting for years now, O and he allows me to borrow anything.

I played a 1250 point game the other day and had 2 x squads of 10 stealers and 1 x squad of Ymgarl's and I agree they didn't have the punch that I thought they would.

My mistake there I think was that the squad's were not big enough. Ideally id like to have 20 stealers and 15 Ymgarl's to make sure that first hit makes a squad of tac marines fail a LD test.

You so don't want that. You want them to fail on THEIR turn not yours. you might look at smaller stealer broods with a second ymgral brood. Next you need to run them as the kncok out punch behind a wall of multi charging cheap hormigaunts. That way they get past over watch, and can do what they do best to full effect.

What powers were the BL's taking?

My other army is Necron's and I only started playing towards the end of 5th so I am yet to actually play a list that includes psychic powers!

I have had 1 game with the nids so far and mostly forgot that my BL's had powers.. currently though I am just using the codex ones until I get confident to be able to start rolling on the BRB for powers.

What would help me be able to try break the unit in there turn rather than mine? one thing I can think of is challenging with the BL first turn so that he cant kill too many troops?

Also do you mean moving the hormigaunts up with the stealers behind them? instead of infiltrating?
