As I wait patiently for the Ork codex to appear, I thought I'd spend some time with my old friends the Blood Angels.

HQ: Librarian with Jump Pack- Shield of Sanguinius and Fear of Darkness (125 points)

Baal Predator with TLAC and Heavy Bolters (145 points)
Baal Predator with TLAC and Heavy Bolters (145 points)

3 Sanguinary Priests with JP and Power Swords (270 points)

Assault Squad: 10 marines, 2 meltas and a sarge with PF (235 points)
Assault Squad: 10 marines, 2 meltas and a sarge with PF (235 points)
Assault Squad: 10 marines, 2 meltas and a sarge with PF (235 points)

Death Company x 5: 4 PF/Bolter and 1 Thunder Hammer (230 points)

Stormraven with TLAC, TL Multi-Melta, Hurricane Bolters, 4x Blood Missles (230 points)

Strategy:

Keep the 2 baal and the librarian together, casting Shield of Sanguinius and Fearing anything that gets too close. The librarian keeps up with the JP
3 Assault Squads (With Sang Priests)- Anti-Infantry/Vehicle as needed

Put the DC in the Storm Raven and drop them near vehicles to generally wreak havoc behind enemy lines/contest objectives if possible

Then the Raven starts hunting vehicles or infantry

My concerns are 1. The storm raven gets shot down- deploy in reserve?. 2. The DC isn't very mobile after initial deployment- I might drop one and add Jump Packs

Thoughts?

I would tool at least one assault squad to be more anti infantry. Drop one priest and a PF (or two) from the DC to get a few additional bodies in the DC unit. Even dowgrading 2 PFs to Power Axes nets you more DC, I believe.

As for your #1 concern, your Raven starts in reserve anyway.

So, maybe replace meltas with flamers and drop PF and add hand flamer/power sword combo to the sarge?

Also, adding more DC is to protect the PF's?

Priests should be with fists and sarges with swords as you want the sarge to accept challenges - not the priest! Also if giving all the death co pfs and jps, you do realise you will be paying 60pts for each t4 3+ 1w model? 2 fists in a death co unit is more than enough usually, leaves more points for more wounds to the squad, and you are then taking away 20/35pt (non jp/jp) models instead of 45/60pt models when taking casualties.
Apart from that - nice list for BA. Maybe experiment with vindis instead of baals if not scouting or outflanking if you play this list multiple times.

Good feedback. I guess a wound pool is important for my DC- I just need to be smarter in positioning them in close combat.

Let me ask this: what about the fear value in 4/5 PF's coming at you in your deployment zone? Not enough to justify the cost?

Yes, the extra DC bare bodies help out with overwatch and your next assault.

I run a 2x flamer, lightning claw sarge for my anti infantry unit.

I am also from the school of thought of keeping my priests bare and cheap. I keep them out of combat at all costs. If I have the points, it is nice for them to carry meltbombs.

What's the logic in putting PF on the priests? WS 5? It seems best to avoid the temptation of having them bump uglies with anything serious and keep them around for FNP and Furious Charge.

Any comments about the Storm Raven load-out?

Its how I run MY ravens.

Also priests w/ fists are really nice as they can be a "hidden" power fist that smacks things if the capt. Is alive. (Actually had one make 3, FnP rolls and then ID a chaos lord once!!)

Flamers in assault squads are generally not the best idea as you flame yourself out of charge range quite a lot, especially against things you ap.

Id say raven loadout is perfect. I agree with raiden on the priests, as they cost 75pts anyway with jps, you might as well pay an extra 15 or 25pts so that model is actually doing something in combat! If you run a libby with jp, take sword (with force axe) as a power and a fist on the sarge and priest in that squad too. Then you can deny challenges and still be hitting with 2 fists (opponent will choose libby not to attack).
And death co are scary enough that you dont need to add a ton of powerfists to worry the opponent.

What special weapon do you recommend for anti-infantry?

Yes you do have to be careful but they have their uses.
