I am starting a new Chaos army, and the centerpiece of my army will be a Khorne Blood Thirster. Now, I like the Games Workshop model, but I have a desire to do something a little different. And having come to the realization that I never go to any Games Workshop-held Tournaments, the exact composition of my model does not have to be totally GW spawned. So far here is my current idea:

The body and wings will come from this Heresy Minature:

http://www.heresyminiatures.com/images/pages/hm009.htm

The head and Axe from the Games Workshop model will be used.

The wip hilt from the Games Workshop model will be used, while the actual lashes will be costomized and improved on.

In addition, I will add armor to the body and wings.

However, this is all depending on the idea that the heresy minature is at the right scale. If anybody has seen this minature, I would like to know if it is the same size as the GW minature. If it isn't I need to come up with something else.

Also if anybody has any better Ideas, I would love to hear them. I want to keep the Thirster about the same sixe as the GW one, so I have already ruled out the Heresy Netherlord. Thanks

Of course the Forgeworld one is the ruler of all awesome minis, but that doesn't work for you size wise. I like the LOTR Balrog as a base. I have picked that box up more than once thinking it could easily become a Bloodthirster. I can't imagine I'm the only one to think that so there are probably others around who have actually done it already. I was thinking of mixing some parts from the GW Bloodthirster, the Balrog, and the Deamon Prince for mine. Since I can't stop buying tanks at the moment that will probably never happen though.

Azaroth?: Twice as nice and half the price!®

The Tyrant of the Ninth Hell and Scourge of Man is on a 40mm base, and the Bloodthirster and Balrog are on 50mm bases is on a 50mm base, and the Balrog is on a 60mm base, and I'm a fool, and I'm bored, so:

Very nice comparison Construct.

Thanks for that!

Those Azaroth wings are very nice. I may have to pick up that model just for my flying Tyrant wings.

I was told that "AZAROTH, TYRANT OF THE NINTH HELL, THE SCOURGE OF MEN", was a slightly smaller minature than the GW Bloodthirster. I think the wings would make great replacements on the GW Thirster, if the comparison is accurate.

Thanks for that, Foda. I apologize for letting my prejudice against LotR sway my judgement.

I think the relative sizes are *vaguely* in the right ballpark now (although the Havoc does seem a trifle large). It appears that although Azaroth was undoubtedly given swirlies at Daemon High by his classmates, he's still big enough to pass as a Bloodthirster...especially if posed smugly on a big pile o' skulls.

Trust my judgement now? The Bloodrog's axe is the kewl an' all but its neck might look better if it tapered more evenly and was surmounted by armour plates. If you haven't already, take a look at the Dark Age Dragyri.

With LOTR bits now being offered, does anyone know if you can buy those plastic Balrog wings seperately?

I heart them for my Hive Tyrant.
