Quick-fingered Warlord Moderatus
|
Got a 1500 point tourney comming this weekend, wanted to try teleporting DKs out so put this together
Hq - Coteaz 100 pts
Troop- GSS x10 psycannon x2 psybolt ammo MC Hammer Justicanr 7 swords (250 pts)
Troop- GSS X10 Psycannon x2 psybolt ammo 8 swords (240)
Fast Attack- Stormraven - TL Melta, TL assault cannon, hurricane bolter, psybolt ammo (255)
Heavy Support
Dreadknight x2 - Sword, Incinerator teleporter (520 pts)
Psyflman Dreadnought - TL Autocannon x2 psybolt (135 pts)
Got comments before on another forum regarding having the melta on the raven, I like having the option to pop armor with it while having the assault cannon for flyers/light armor and infantry along with the hurricane bolters.

The melta is a good choice for the raven. Sure, it is a less efficent as heavy bolters for the psybolt, but it is actually able to threaten armor. The nastiest fliers are Av12 anyways, and you really want something that can pin them. If your up against a heavy armor flier, you can always use the machine spirit to shoot something at some other target.
A hammer is bad for the justicar, as you will be dead in most challenges before you strike. Hammers are still great to have in a unit for damage, but take a halbred. With I6 and hammerhand, you can usually beat the enemy sarge, or if you need, you can activate the force weapon earlier. Dropping master crafting gets a halbred on the sarge and keeps the hammer in the unit.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I like the list. But as above, dont take hammers on characters due to challenge. Melta on the raven is always a must. Just keep them ss alive and you will do great.

Yea the hammer was mostly a result of points left over, but a halberd on him with a hammer isnt a bad idea for that squad

Not a bad list but you are 5 points over at 1505 (assuming the MC on the Justicar's Hammer is a typo as that's your 5 points).
This list really relies on your NDKs doing all the heavy lifting and distractions/taking target priority away from your SS.
Changes I would recommend:
1. Drop the swords on the 2xNDKs to give you 50 extra points.
2. Give a hammer to your other SS (not on the Justicar as said above).
3. With 40 points left over get a searchlight on your Psylfeman and 3xSquads of henchmen with 1xBolter Acolyte and 2xAcolytes each.
The searchlight might help with reducing some cover saves against your SS early and 3 units of scoring dudes to reserve in (1 in a Raven) and claim backfield OBJs. Might be handy as 20 marines won't survive long in a 1500 pt game. Makes kill point games a little harder but more scoring is always handy!

Yea the Mastercraft was a typo, think that was leftover from an old list that i forgot to delete
So I got 10 points to juggle, 1 hammer in one squad, or a halberd on each squad's justicar?
With my rolling though, the swords on the dks are worth the points lol
Unfortunately no henchmen though, as I dont actually own any yet

In that case then have you considered swapping Coteaz out for an OMI in TDA with a PC?
Coteaz offers scoring henchmen and DS protection via IBEY but Strikes have that in Warp Quake and you’re not using henchmen. Coteaz with SS might be a bit redundant in this list (Blasphemy I know!). Also Coteaz can't DS in with them if you need to.
I would look at dropping Coteaz, get an OMI in TDA with PC, Hammer and 3xServo skulls. for 89 points that gives you 10 points to buy another Hammer for your other squad (or you could drop the other SS Hammer and Prescience him).
The Servo skulls will be great against scouting/infiltrating stuff in tourneys (White Scars ect) and could be very handy by making your SS DS more accurate if the situation permits.
*Edit: If you don't like the above then I would run 1xHammer in a SS instead of 2xHalberds. I have found Hidden Hammers to be match winners at times and Halberds to be merely handy on rare occasions.

Hmm..I'd have to proxy something as the inqusitor. Though Coteaz is mostly a buff bot for me in addition to everything else he does.

yeah Coteaz brings his lvl2 divination on top of the rest so he remains much better then a basic inquisitor for me.
