After helping someone in another thread, I realized how Black Templars can effectively bring back one of my favorite 4th edition tournament lists... Space Marine Las/Plas! Now obviously the list cannot be ran the same as it was, but thanks to codex-wide point reductions and the ability to take allies I believe the list can be made stronger as a whole.

My plan when constructing the list was to saturate the board with scoring units. I can have up to 10 scoring units, depending on how the Infantry Squads are deployed. Each unit brings a good amount of special or heavy weapons fire to the battlefield, allowing me to take down a variety of targets.

The Chapter Master is my "clean-up" unit. He can take down almost any scoring units in CC, once any transports have been destroyed buy my ranged firepower. He will hide behind my transport wall until a good assault presents itself.

The unit of Vendettas is my sole anti-air. A single Heldrake will ruin my day, but two Vendettas should down one Heldrake per turn.

In total I have 8 Missile Launchers, 12 Lascannons, 8 Plasmaguns, and 7 Melta weapons spread across many different units. Plenty of firepower to go around.

I have been strongly considering replacing the Chapter Master with the Emperor's Champion (to ride in a Rhino) and an ADL with a Quad-Gun (for cover and additional anti-air). Thoughts?

From that game I played in that I was telling you about, I found the chapter master to do a lot more then my EC. they ran together, and I used a power axe with the Chapter Master so they were both striking at I5.

But what I liked about the chapter master is 4 wounds. and the shield will give him eternal warrior and 3++. That makes him a lot more survivable and makes you less likely to lose a Slay the Warlord VP, However, leaving your warlord with no unit of his own is also kind of risky.

Try slipping in a bike squad with some gravity guns and an attack bike MM and that may firm things up better. Getting a couple (ideally 3) drop pods out there would be good so the Captain is not in the front lines alone.

With all the lascannons and plasma guns going around do you think he really needs a MM?

I really want to avoid taking bikes, as I don't have any lol. Same with Drop Pods. I like having a mechanized ground presence.

I do have two Attack Bikes with Multi-Meltas though. Maybe I can find 110 points to bring them in as a bodyguard for the Chapter Master! What should I drop, though?

I have no Centurions in my list. I am using regular Space Marine Devastator Squads (dudes in power armor) with Missile Launchers. They are a huge part of the list, as they offer anti infantry AND anti-tank (frag & krak missiles) at the 48" range band.

I don't know why I read those as centurions, haha.
