Looking for any tips or advice for my first miniature. Keep in mind this is pre any touching up, basing, or highlighting. I still need to give his axe a little more of a rusted/chipped/honed blade as well as finish the boots and do something about his gun! I don't have the steadiest hand or the best camera so bear with the quality.

Paint the side of the axe a color. It makes the blade pop.

Did you use any paints after thE washes? Hit those high spots on the muscle again with the same or a barely lighter green. Same on everything really.

I did. I'm going to work on making look more rusted without completely ruining the metal color so I can have some contrast with the blade.

Oh and you have a great baseline skill set. Like sledgio said, good job.

When fatiguing the axe head put tape on the blade to give it that crisp freshly sharpened line.

Would recommend drilling your gun barrels it really does make all the difference.
