So I've been playing around with my ork units and have had mixed results. I did an army trade a while back and have been trying to supplement it as I go. I've won a few games but overall I seem to be losing quite a bit more. I believe it is because I have nothing to support my troops as they get to their destination. I don't have alot of experience with orks, nobody at my flgs plays them so I'm hoping you guys can help me put a list together. Here is what I have:
HQ
1 AOBR Warboss
1 Warboss on bike with PK
1 Warboss w/ PK and kombi-scorcha
1 Big Mek with KFF
Troops
24 choppa boys
24 shoota boys
2 big shootas
Elite
5 nob bikers, 1 is a pain boy
Nobz 4 big choppa, 4 pk, 3 choppa/slugga, 2 painboy
Heavy
6 kans- 3 rokkits, 2 big shoota, 1 grotzooka
4 lootas, 1 mekboy
Fast
1 dakkajet
3 deffkoptas
Transport
2 trukks
Kinda lost at this point. Seems like I ALMOST have enough to be effective, but i need more.. So any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

I think the problem here is that you either have not enough boyz, or not enough transports for the boyz. The boyz are one of the best troop choices in the game, and you would to bring alot of them. In fact one of the reasons they are so good is because of their point cost in relation to their number of attacks and toughness and the fact that you can take them in squads of 30, or 20 in an av14 transport that can tank shock like no other.
So if you are thinking about what models to get extra, I would recommend two battlewagons, and make a list like this
Bikerboss, BP, PK, Cybork = 145
Big Mek w/ kff = 85
5 nob bikers, all cybork, 1 PKs, Waagh Banner, painboy = 315
20 boyz, nob, pk, bp, 2 big shootas = 170
20 boyz, nob, pk, bp, 2 big shootas = 170
11 boyz, nob, pk, bp, trukk, rpj = 141
Battlewagon w/ deff rolla, 2 big shootas rpj = 125
Battlewagon w/ deff rolla, 2 big shootas rpj = 125
Dakkajet w/ 3rd supa shoota = 120
3 Deffkoptas = 105
Total = 1501
Stick the biker boss with the 3 deffkoptas to get the outflank and bring in a true beatstick right to the enemy backlines. Rush the two battlewagons forward, side by side with the trukk behind them. The kff will confer the cover save to the wagons so they can unload their cargo. I know I have two big shootas on them, but thats really just so they can still prove fairly useful after unloading. Or if you move them at cruising speed you can take a bunch of snap shots from the wagons guns and the passengers guns.

Are Lootas in an ADL not neccessary for an army book so weak to flyers? The ork players in my area always run a squad of thirteen in there with a quad gun. Can you afford to just ignore a major part of the meta?

If you face a lot of flyers in your area, 3 per army or something, then yeah I'd go for all the lootas. However, with the amount of S5 shots on the board with this army, you will be able to snap shot down a single flyer pretty easily.

Thanks Icculus, that's the conclusion I've been coming to. The Trukks have just not been cutting it... I don't have those yet though, is it possible to maybe tailor that to something with what I have? i don't mind proxying for wargear but i think that list might be a stretch.

Ok, then try something like this.
Bikerboss, BP, PK, Cybork = 145
Big Mek w/ kff = 85
5 nob bikers, all cybork, 1 PKs, Waagh Banner, painboy = 315
11 boyz, nob, pk, bp, trukk, rpj = 141
12 boyz, nob, pk, bp, trukk, rpj = 147
10 boyz, nob, bp, big shoota = 85
5 lootas = 75
total = 993
Some extra points there for some 'eavy armor or ammo runts or kombi-weapon. something like that. So the big focus here is going to be on your bikersquad. at 1000 points they are going to be a true deathstar and will probably be the army's MVP. they have 4+/4+/5++/FNP. furious charge, +1WS from banner. 2 wounds, T5. really awesome stuff. two trukks to rush forward and one squad of boyz to sit on a backfield objective. See the two trukks and backfield boyz are so easy targets that your opponent must choose. either shoot them down and let your superstars run in un-wounded, or try to wear down the deathstar and let the trukkboyz run loose.
cool thing here is that you have 4 troop choices because the bikes are now troops! so if you need to go after a late game objective, and still have a smaller target out there, you can split your warboss off to go kill the target and send the bikernobs to claim the objective.

I agree with the battlewagons with all the boyz in them. 2 at minimum, 3 when you can. Using them all the time, they have proven their worth on so many occasions. Lootas are a necessity for taking out flyers, unless you have allies for that.

So thanks for the info. I actually just ran a 1k game using the list Icculus posted. Played relic against Necron. Was pretty close but managed to win it in round 6.
I used to run pretty much the same list except with 25 boys on foot instead of in trucks. But I think wagons are the way to go, and it seems like I need more lootas but 4 in a box is kinda brutal.

Awesome, congrats on the win. But yeah, battlewagons with deff rollas are pretty awesome. AV14, 4 hull points, assault vehicle. and the deff rolla will surprise people. Run it in to an opposing vehicle for d6 Str 10 hits. Check around on ebay for some good deals. Actually I got 3 battlewagons, 3 buggies and 2 deffkoptas from someone here on dakkdakka through the swap shop.
