Hey, a buddy of mine is getting me into Infinity. He gifted me a nice starter army...I know many Infinity minis are dual use. This isn't the exact mini list per se, but it's how I'm thinking of running it. Thanks in advance!

Line Kazak Lieutenant: 9
Minuteman w/ Camo: 34
Minuteman w/ Camo: 34
Chasseur minelayer: 20
Highlander w/ Chain Rifle & Smoke: 6
Highlander w/ Chain Rifle & Smoke: 6
Moblot Sapper w/ HMG: 41

The way I've been using them is to, if I go first, deploy aggressively mostly as camo tokens (one for each Minuteman, one for the Chasseur, and one for one of his mines), then pump a bunch of orders into either the Highlanders so they can run up and chain rifle mofos.

If I go second, I deploy defensively and force my opponent to play the landmine shell game. The Sapper is usually used as a support unit though I was told that he's a good run-and-gun unit despite the way the model looks.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Dunno about that sapper man... ariadna tends to get a lot of cheap HMG and your paying out the ass for him

Not really, in terms of our HI HMGs he is about average. And he has a -6 to be hit, and a +3 ARM because of the sapper rule (while in his foxhole), so, if supported well, he'll be hard to dig out.

Thanks for the reply.

I thought about taking a Vet Kazak with HMG and mimetism but he's a full 20 points more. It seems like what you're saying is that I should go for quantity over quality with Ariadna?

I mean, he's got Mimetism and cover when he's deployed, and he's BS (or shooting skills...I'm a 40k player, sorry!) 13, so he's a better shooter than a normal Kazak. Our regular machinegunners are only BS11. What do you recommend as a substitute? I'm all ears!

I honestly like the sapper, but he can be crippled by terrain more so than other models, because his strengths are reliant on him being in his foxhole, which means he can't move around and rock the HMG like other models can, but it does mean that most things moving after him going to struggle to down him.

And nope, it's BS, you had it right

I like the Mormaer, I mean yeah he doesn't have sapper, but he does have ARM 5 and an AP HMG, which means, when in cover, he'll be rolling ARM saves with a bonus of 8, and he'll do better against any high ARM targets you employ him against. Also, dogged is pretty sweet on a model like this, so you can go balls out and even if he goes down he's still useful for the rest of the orders that turn, until he goes completely down.

Thanks for the reply.

The Mormaer model is badass! Definitely something I wouldn't mind painting at all. Here's a question:

If I'm mostly fielding Frenchies anyway (the 2 Minutemen could be Moblots really...the Sapper and Chasseur, etc.) would it make sense to run the French Sectorial so I can linkteam them, or are linkteams not really something I should be worried about with Ariadna or generally?

Haha have you ever painted tartan before? You may live to regret those words...

The MRRF (the french) sectorial does look nice, and it isn't necessarily bad to start with a sectorial, but your choices are much more limited, and you never know if you run vanilla Ariadna for a while, when the USAriadna sectorial drops you might prefer to use them, and then regret having pigeonholed your purchases so far by buying MRRF models. That sectorial might appeal to you more from memory.

But to actually answer your question I like sectorials, even though they don't have the same breadth of choice the themes are really strong, and link teams are great fun. Rolling around with a BS16, Sixth Sense Level 2, Burst 5 AP HMG (that is what a link team I like to run has, Greys in a Caledonian sectorial) sounds awesome right? Or a Burst 3 BS15 Heavy Rocket Launcher (Briscards in the MRRF sectorial)? Those are some of the things you can do if you plump out for a full link team of 5 in sectorials. Or you can just go with 3 or 4 people and still get some neat bonuses.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Link teams with +1 burst in ARO with a rocket launcher are nasty...
