Hey guys!

Still very fresh on the tournament scene, but wondering how you think this list might fare:

Primary - Grey Knights

HQ
Coteaz - 100

Troops
5 Acolytes w. bolters, 2 servitors w. plasma cannons, 1 servitor w. heavy bolter - 75
3 Acolytes, razorback w. heavy bolter + psybolts - 62
3 Acolytes, razorback w. heavy bolter + psybolts - 62

Fast Attack
10 Interceptors w. 2 incinerators + psybolts + halberd - 325
10 Interceptors w. 2 incinerators + psybolts + halberd - 325

Heavy Support
Dreadknight w. heavy incinerator + teleporter - 235

Allies - Space Marines (Ultramarines)

HQ
Librarian - 65

Elites
5 Sternguard w. 3 combi-meltas in drop pod - 185

Troops

10 Tactical marines w. melta + combi-melta + flakk missile launcher in drop pod - 215

Fast Attack
5 Assault marines w. 2 flamers in drop pod - 95

Fortifications

Aegis line w. quad-gun - 100

So the basic plan is that the servitor henchmen hang with Coteaz at the quad-gun, and he and the razorbacks hide behind the aegis and put in some long range firepower with the possibility to score . Tacs can either go all 10 in the pod or keep 5 with the flakk behind the aegis. Then, on my first turn, they end up with 35 marines and a dreadknight in their face, capable of popping a couple of choice tanks, and laying down some quality templates. The libby will go in a pod and probably take telepathy, giving him a 25% chance of landing puppet-master (could be awesome) but with shriek as the primaris there isn't too much at risk as both can be cast the turn he arrives. The Ultras will use their chapter tactics to maximise the pain on the turn they drop.

Let me know what you think!

Minot, ND

I lost 30 marines to 15 termagaunts, 5 warriors, and a tervigon yesterday.

If you're going for alpha strike go all the way not half and half.

Salamanders, Ultrasmurfs, and Crimson Fists do it best. Everyone else just dies.

I would actually prefer SW instead of SM for that alpha strike.
And i would prefer DK to interceptors as well.

Thanks for the suggestions man. May I ask why Sallies, CF or pure Ultras would do it more effectively? I'm actually trying to go all the way with alpha strike so if it looks half-half that's bad haha. The backfield units are all intended to contribute significantly to the shooting but also just bring a little flexibility, mobile scoring, and flyer defense.

I actually think this list would handle Nids quite well. Remember he will be doing very little if any shooting before me, as not only am I more likely to go first with Coteaz, but I'll be keeping my distance and hiding behind my aegis / LoS blocking cover until I'm ready to teleport + drop pod in. In most circumstances I should be dropping five str 6 AP 4 templates wherever I want them, getting off 32 str. 5 stormbolter shots, 16 bolter shots w. re-rolls, 6 TL str. 6 heavy bolter shots, a thunderfire cannon (potentially w. prescience), plasma cannons, a quad gun, drop pod stormbolters, a psychic shriek and whatever the sternguard decide to do. A quick run at the maths says that should kill about 80-85 gaunts on my first turn, and there's enough weapons str 6+ to threaten the tougher stuff.

What would you suggest taking on the Sallies, CFs or extra Smurfs which would put out more on a single turn than the 5 incinerators and 16 stormbolters the non-scattering GK bring, plus all the stuff in the backfield?

What would you take with SW? I'm definitely open to the idea. The way I see it, GK have some great anti-horde, I just needed some anti-tank, and using these UM will get me 2 first turn meltas w. re-rolls and 3 meltas w. re-rolling 1s.

As for DK > interceptors, I would love to get another DK in this list and had one in originally but wouldn't know what to take out. I think the interceptors are actually better for this kind of alpha strike, because the DK brings a single incinerator, whereas the interceptors bring 2 incinerators and sixteen str 5 stormbolter shots. Basically, the interceptors will kill a lot more, but the dreadknight is more durable (per point spent). In an alpha-strike army, I thought it would be better to take more killing power and let my offense work as my defense.

You've given me some good food for thought guys, and let me know what kind of replacements you would suggest!

Updated the list - would really love more feedback on it! Do you think it would do okay at a tournament?
