Hi all,

Here is my 3x2 foot army display board I am working on.

Close up of rock formations on the left.

The plan is to have ruins (gw plastic ones) around the corners of the intersection and go for a dark grey colour with bright grass in patches. The road will be darker with crisp lines and a hazard type pattern in red around the edges.

Is it looking ok? Is it unbalanced? Where would you go next with it?

Cheers

P.s. It is still to be based so the lines in the cork tiles will disappear.

Only thing I could think to suggest is to try and add smoother more natural transitions between the gaps in the rock formations.
From the pictures they look a bit too spacey and odd. Maybe smooth them out with a bit of gap filler to give it a more natural flowing look.
At the moment it looks a bit harsh if you get what I am saying.

Maybe once the sand and basing is added I will not see the problem anymore.

Personally I am not always fan of cork hills and rock formations so it is more a matter of opinion.
Although it looks good when done right. Which I think you pretty much have.
It can also be done very wrong IMO.

May I suggest something for future reference or you may even like it enough to use it here...

Pine Bark Nuggets

I use these for great looking natural hills and rock formations.
You get a much more natural realistic look than cork board will most of the time.

Done by me here...

And done MUCH MUCH better over here

Pick them up at your local bunnings (as I see you're from 'Straya) or if you're lucky you can find them in the backyard.

I understand completely if you had no Idea what I meant by all that^.
I have trouble understanding myself at times...
Disregard this comment completely if it confuses you.

Most important thing is that I think right now what you are planing sounds good and it looks great at the moment.
I will hold most of my suggestions until I see it coming together more It is fairly bare-bones at the moment.
As right now there is only so much I can say...

Will try to keep an eye on this...

Solid advice, the bark looks much better than I would have imagined!! I'll smooth it out but leave it road runner desertish as far as the rock spires go, if that makes sense.

It is a rush job for a tourney on the weekend. I just hope it doesn't look stupid and you need a fresh set of eyes sometimes.

If you want it road runner style you may want to paint a few tunnels on the formations...
But I get what you mean.

If it is a rush I hope you get it done in time. And I doubt it would look stupid. It looks great at the moment.

With sand and a bit of Paint I am sure it will be more than fine.
