What I thought of when I first heard about the Broodlord Hunting Pack.
ELITE
Pack consists of 3-5 Broodlords
Special rules: Infiltrate, Fleet, Shadows in the Warp, Brotherhood of Psykers, ML 2 always knows The Horror, The Shadow Deepens
The Shadow Deepens: the radius of shadows in the warp is increased by 1" for each Broodlord in the pack.
All codex upgrades available.
I would keep them costing the same points despite the new special rule and added mastery level.

It still doesn't make Broodlords anymore attractive in a list. You're paying 180pts* minimum for an extr 3" of Shadows, which while isn't a bad thing, they still suffer from the typical Genestealer problems such as lack of assault grenades etc.
*You would need to clear up how it's priced: since Broodlords are bought as a unit upgrade, would I have to buy them for the upgrade price, or in addition to a Genestealer brood, etc.

As I said same price as in the codex. They would be a unit on their own so no need to buy genestealers.
I don't feel that stealers suffer from a lack of assault grenades, though I'm not often assaulting units in cover with them.
Just thought it would be cool to have a unit of Broodlords. Automatically Appended Next Post: Wait don't genestealers have move through cover? Doesn't this mean they can assault with no penalty?

Since Genestealers die very quickly out of cover, you'd want to Infiltrate them into some sort of protection, ergo assault grenades would be pretty useful in that case.
It would be a cool-ish unit, but nothing spectacular, I would make something akin to Ymgarls since GW arbitarily decided to remove them from the Codex. Some large formation of Ymgarls with Broodlord leaders would be better.

Are assault grenades even necessary if they have move through cover?

You still need assault grenades since move through cover is only in effect in the movement phase where it allows you to roll an extra dice for movement. The rule does not affect your units in the assault phase where you still roll the same amount of dice as any other unit and still need assault grenades.
