I promised my wife I wouldn't complain in front of her, I spent the entire hour rolling my eyes in the dark and wanting to chew my fingers off.

I'm glad they're finally giving Michonne some backstory. I'd still like them to explain how she got ahold of a magical katana that replicate feats previously unheard of outside of lightsaber duels, as well as the skill to wield it in defiance of both realism and physics, but I won't hold my breath. The atrocious blaxploitation dialogue seems to be mostly gone, which is a plus.

Since my wife loves this show, I'm going to have to watch it until it ends. I'll keep hoping it goes back to being as good as it was up through Season 2, but I don't have high hopes.

Goddamn plot armour, thicker than steel and impossible to penetrate even with 2D6 armour penetration.

The important thing to learn from this episode kids is that:

Daryl vs Tank
Winner = Daryl

Carl vs Door
Winner = Door

Now if only the doors were sentient enough to close by themselves over Carl's itty bitty neck.

Yeah, I feel you. No matter how hard I cheer, Michonne always pulls through.

I like the part where we saw Darryl get eaten by a small child zombie. That was perfect and so unexpected.

Spoiler:

Good episode. I didn't get what was going on in the dream sequence for a bit, then I was like WTF!!?!?!!

And hey I like Carl. He's the only male besides the now dead Darryl that hasn't screwed up everything. Imagine the therapy he'd have to go through if he returned to real life. May child soldiers look well adjusted.

IIRC, the comics explain that she retrieved the sword from her neighbour's house when the outbreak began. She was already a skilled fencer, which somewhat explains her skill with the katana.

Hey, if the show stays true to the comics, Carl will become a real badass soon. Rick, Carl and Andrea are my favourite characters of the Comics.

I don't get all the hate for Carl. He's just a kid, 9 years old in the comics, 14 years old in the TV show. How else is a kid that young supposed to act in a zombie apocalypse?

We need to mix it up a little. Lets have Rangar Lodbruks's next longboat raid go up river and run into the survivors.

"I am SUPER VIKING!"
(sees 5,000 dead zombies coming at them)
"Run away! Run Away!"

Its all part of Eldrad's plan...

I don't get the Carl hate. He's a kid that:

1) Lost his dad
2) Got a surogate dad in Shane
3) Got his dad back.
4) Dad killed his surogate dad/favorite uncle
5) He had to shoot the zombie version of said surgate dad/favorite uncle
6) He put a bullet in his mom's head to prevent her coming back as a zombie
7) Found a bloody baby carrier his sister was in
8) Saw his surogate grandpa die
9) Lost all of his new "family" except his dad as far as he knows.
10) Has seen his dad go crazy and in his opinion (and mine) act irresponsibly in the current world.

And he's a dang teenager on top of it. How in the world is this kid suppose to react?

Now normally a teenager's black and white doesn't really apply to the existing world. But in the zombi apocalypse it really is much closer to reality. Which means Carl is in a better place to understand the demads of the new world than many grown adults, including his dad. I actually think the character is deeper and better than most people consider. If you consider his actions week to week he can come off as a bit of a snit, but if you actually look at the character it's pretty darn perfect and awesome.

Regarding tonights episode in general I really liked it. A lot of Carl's issues were finally brought to light in his tirade at his sleeping father (which needed to happen so people could remember what's he's actually been going thru). Carl found out more about himself and I forsee much less teenage angst from him in the future.

We got a lot more backstory about Michone which was great. I like the fact that they touch on the fact that the sword skill might have been an ability pre-apocalypse.

Overall an excellent episode with 3 of my favorite characters. Next week will be interesting as they cover the rest of the people who made it out of the prison. Looking forward to it.

Oh, and Talking Dead whenever Nicataro (sp?) is on is great.

The way the characters consistently score not just headshots, but forehead shots with handguns at range on moving targets and under stress is as least as magical as Michonne's sword. The answer here is obviously that it's a TV show.

Oh, regarding Talking Dead, I think I was too distracted by Danai Gurira. She cleans up from zombie apocalypses rather nicely...

Ya Carl's fine by me. Seems to have it more together than Rick considering everything that's happened.

Or that the people who can't do that are all dead. Darwinism is in full effect here.

It was upsetting seeing Hershel's zed head, but it got me thinking about how grim a bunch of reanimated walker heads would be as a potential siege weapon. Catapult dozens of bitey heads over an encampment's walls and watch the fun.
