Morphing Obliterator

Hi all
I have always liked the dark angels and thought that I might try a small 1500pt army of them.
Could the DA Players on dakka help me out with a couple of list ideas?
1. Mixed green/death/raven wing but including 5 deathwing knights in a redeemer
2. Full ravenwing army with bikes, speeders and their fancy speeder thingy, maybe a flyer or two
How can I make these ideas semi competitive (not looking for tourney standard here just decent for a friendly game)?
Thanks!

Ravenwing is pretty easy.
Take Sammael, a Libby on a bike, 2 RW Command Squads.
Then get your troop choices in the form of 2-3 squads of 6 bikes with Meltas, 1 Attack Bike with Melta and 1 Typhoon Speeder. and a Dark Shroud. Fill up with Black Knights and you have a very solid foundation that is basically the best the codex has to offer.
Variations permitted ofc.
Goldwing is harder to pull off.
That implies Azrael as Warlord, which basically removes Tacticals as an option.. Why would you seriously play tacs if you can have bikes and/or termies?
Balancing the wings is quite hard, I found. I'd say if you want it fluffy, take one of the aforementioned RW Squads, your Knights in a Redeemer, some termies and some vehicles, like Predators, which are "green" and, ofc, something to stick Azrael with, maybe a Devastator Squad behind an Aegis. You pretty much have to go to 2k though to fit all wings in.

In regards to the "Goldwing" idea, I run a 3-wing list in some form almost every game, but never with Azrael. I've run Azrael via proxy a single game and imho unless you're playing 2k like Thairne said it's not going to be worth it.
My typical 3-wing list (1500) looks roughly something like:
HQ: Librarian (pimp as desired)
Elite:
- 2x DWTS w/ AC & CF
- 1x DWK (No Transport)
Troop:
- 2x TacSq w/ PG & PC (Sarge w/ PP/CS)
- 1x Scout Snipers (just sniper spam)
Fast Attack:
- BK w/ RWGL & PS
- RWAS w/ PG
I don't put my Knights in a transport, they soak up a ridiculous amount of shots and can be used as a frontal shield or hammer for a turn 1 Deathwing Assault. Alternatively, use them to spook away your opponent from your home objectives. I don't run Ravenwing pure mostly because I don't have Sammael and don't want to drop ~$200 to bring up my current stock to run pure Ravenwing. I'd rather run Deathwing pure which would only be ~$100 as I have Belial. As Belial stands I'll happily run him and get those extra 2 scoring terminator squads behind the Knights to wreck face and possibly steal a nice objective back-field. If you want to question the Scouts, they are filler, but having 36" 4+ wounding shots are good to spam onto anything running around you don't want to waste extra firepower on. If you absolutely must run the Knights in a Land Raider drop the scouts and some bikes from my list and you'll be looking at a weaker backfield. Enjoy!

Knights and TH/SS termies are better in a landraider, and a LRC at that.
They sure can take some firepower (I run a squad of 7 knights in a 1000 pts DW list as there is no way to get a LRC in such a low points game with knights), however the landraider can get them where they need to go in the fastest, most efficient, and safest way possible.
OP: Ravenwing are the most competitive way to go (although a LRC fits well with the dev standard and theres no reason you can't put your knights in here too). If you want greenwing and tacticals, I'd say it would be best to use DA as an allies detachment for a SM list.
I also run a pure DW army, and whilst fun and fluffy, you shouldn't be winning too many games against competitive lists from the newer codices. As I said though, I do enjoy it, and it certainly is a challenge. (Also nice on the painting front, a 1500 pts army with only around 25 models is not too daunting).

My mixed wing list beat out a Dual Riptide Tau list in a capture the relic mission a few months back if that had gone to turn 7 i wouldn't be able to claim that though haha
