Waaagh! Ork Warboss on Warbike

Waiting at the Dark Tower steps..

Hello great form of dakka dakka first post!
Salamanders is main army but i am lovin my orks and started my waaaaagh which bring my to my question...

I played space wolves last night 1857 points we had 6 objectives night fighting for four turns was in effect space wolves went first (now its important to note that we played on a 6 foot table and my friend was using fith edition space wolf codex which has higher point values then sixth.)
Long story short i slaughtered his troops with dakka dakka and was able to do that on the end of 3 turn literally all he had left was 2 tact, 2 devs, and Arjac.
It was good amount of luck but was really obscene

Now why I bring this up is all my friends would rather play anyone but the orks (even my brother who plays Grey knights) and im asking are they OP like i know they need a new codex and such but still

Hey and welcome to dakka!

And to anaswer your question orks are not OP, infact quite the opposite. They can be quite strong but far from OP, if your tabling SW on the 3rd turn, your either really lucky or the player should maybe rethink his list or his targets:-)

Hi, welcome to Dakka-Dakka!

The general consensus on orks seems to be that they are not overpowered at all. Some builds are stronger than others, as with every other codex and of course armies which are optimised against very different enemies will struggle to deal with them, but most forces should be able to handle an equivalent ork list (i.e. one built with the same emphasis on winning, played by someone of equivalent skill, etc).

First of all, welcome to Dakka.

Regarding your question, I don't know of anybody who believes that Orks are OP. They are, in fact, generally considered to be a mid-tier codex at best.
I would disagree with this notion however. I play shooty Orks. My list goes completely against the way that people think that Orks are supposed to be played. No bikers. No Nobz. No Kans. No Battlewagons. No green tide. Lots of trucks, rocket buggies, deffkoptas, lootas, looted wagons, and tankbustas.
I find that the great strength of the ork codex is that they are incredibly tactically flexible. My Orks have beaten every so-called top tier army there is in the current meta, simply because they always seem to have the right tools for the job.
Again, this makes it a good codex, but not OP, in my opinion.

It sounds as though you are simply out-playing your opponents. Perhaps you could refer them to the 40k tactics or Army Lists boards here on Dakka for some pointers.

Depending on what your going for really... Orks, unless they're optimised for shooting ( like above) nearly always get destroyed until they get onto close combat, where their attacks and toughness come out well, even against some space marines (emperor forgive me)

Welcome to Dakka!

I'll agree with everyone else. Orks are not really OP.
