U.K

Right im working on building the Full DA chapter and i was wondering roughly how many chaplains/librarians you think there would be in it. i would assume there would be at least 11 - 1 per company plus chief interrogater chaplain. and the same with librarians

also do you think that the dark angels would be a chapter to report one thing while another is happeneing? as in they are sticking to the codex (for the most part) but in reality they have 12 companies or they say they have no devestaor companies yet have 3? I know the Dark angels are one to shround themselve in secrecy but i was wondering just how far they would go with it. would they lie? are they still a legion and so on.

any ideas/light shedding would be great

P.S im not saying this is a 2 months project it will take a couple of years but i want to get the command structure and what not out of the way

Is there no Chapter organisation chart in the DA Codex? The Blood Angels have one which specifies those things. High Chaplain Astorath and 13 Chaplains, enough to send one with every Company and have a few to spare. Chief Librarian Mephiston and 6 Epistolaries, 11 Codiciers, 8 Lexicanum, 5 Acolytum and 5 Furioso Librarian Dreadnoughts. The Epistolaries and Codiciers are the most likely to see combat of those.

The Dark Angels do follow the Codex Astartes, but they're very close to their successors - they could work as a Legion if it was deemed necessary. The Chapter Masters of the successors are (unknown to the IoM at large) subordinate to the Grand Master of the Dark Angels. And yes, when it comes to their obsession with their ancient shame they will sometimes file dodgy reports, or no reports at all. Inquisitors and other marines have disappeared before, and the Dark Angels have been known to abandon fellow Imperial forces in battle at times.

The Burble

Like Spet said... they don't really need to tack on an extra dev company since they have slowly rebuilt into a small legion via the internal hierarchies and loyalties of the inner circle. I'm sure they have the wargear to fit out a company in that manner but it's not really necessary since the total number of unforgiven is in the multiple thousands. There are probably more than 11 librarians, there is nothing limiting them to one per chapter and many work in the chapter library rather than lead missions all the time. I would say in the low twenties. Probably about 16 chaplains

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

i was just wondering because i didnt want to make it DA to the letter. i wanted to customise it and whatnot so having more Dev squads with plasma might make it look more DA like.

The Dark Angels are generally codex compliant, with the exception that they have dropped one of the battle companies found in a normal chapter and replaced it with the Ravenwing. They still have one reserve company each for Tactical, Assault and Devastator specialisations.

thats what is says... but are they lying?what if each company was divided into 2 companies which were 1 hundred strong each? they had the same markings and unless you say 200 marines fielded with the same markings you would know would you? all im saying is do you think there is a chance that their structure might be a huge lie? and also roughly how many chaps and libs dyou think they have?

There is nothing in the fluff whatsoever to support the idea that all the information and literature published by GW as the guide to the Chapter organisation is not in fact correct. On the fluff side they are secretive and keep to their own hidden agenda. On the modelling and gaming side the Codex is very clear about the organization of the chapter.

Now you can do what you like with your own models, but the official background does not support such a view.

Personally I would imagine that they would have at least 20 to 30 each of librarians and chaplains. Each company needs a chaplain and I would imagine that most of them would also be training their replacements. similarly I always felt that the descriptions of a Chapter Librarium needs more than a handful of guys to deal with. As well as the combat role, the Librarium needs to record the chapter history, train their successors, vet the rest of the chapter for psychic traits, advise the various command staff groups and do their own mental training and fortification so they can do all of the above.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
