Yay for my first post!!!!!
......So I'm just getting back into 40k after a decade long hiatus and I couldn't help but pick up the new imperial knight as it just seems like fun. I've been reading up a lot on list building in 6th and I think this list should fit the current gameplay well. Please let me know what you think as I haven't done this in a very long time and I welcome comments and or criticisms. My flgs is mostly just friendly play. Usually they do objective based missions. Thanks!!

1500pts

Rune priest (jaws, lightning) 100
Rune priest (prescience) 100

10x Grey hunters (wulfen, 2x plasma guns) 175
10x Grey hunters (wulfen, 2x plasma guns) 175
10x Grey hunters (wulfen, 2x plasma guns) 175

5x Long Fangs (4x Las Cannons) 175
Vindicator (siege shield) 125

Aegis Defense Line w/ Quad Gun 100

Imperial Knight Paladin 375

I figure the paladin is pretty versatile in terms of being excellent for anti infantry and deadly to vehicles especially in CC. The long fangs and vindicator can mop up any residual vehicles plus take care of any terminators that may be around. The quad gun provides me with air defense which will be bolstered by the rune priest casting prescience over the long fangs whose squad leader is manning the AA gun. The second rune priest will travel with one of the grey hunter squads to hopefully get jaws and lightning off in the field while the squads head out to hold objectives. It seems good in my head but I can't wait to hear your input. Thanks!

So today I found out that there is a 4 week campaign starting that I'm going to participate in. I know there are some tau players, at least one nids player, iron hands, chaos.... Actually I think most of the normal armies are represented. Does this list seem well rounded enough to go into a tournament or campaign with? I feel like I've covered a lot of my bases but I'm not sure how well everything will synergize. Please let me know what you think. I have a large collection so there is a lot I could switch out. The only thing I don't have are drop pods but I'm really considering getting some. Just have to find the points and the money, lol. Thanks!

Not sure if you can have just one Imperial Knight as a ally or if you need 2 (1 to fill the HQ and the other to fill the troops slot).

Can someone answer this?

As for the list I don't know much about SW but maybe get some transportation for the troops.

The ONLY thing I dislike with the list is the single vindicator.

Don't get me wrong, they have their uses, but I feel it is a weak choice in the SW codex. For the points you can add another unit of Long Fangs with MLs. Although they are less scary than the vindi, they are more durable and flexible.

I have a love /hate relationship with anything green.

You can take 1-3 as an allied detachment or 3-6 as a primary detachment. If taken as a primary then one of the knights gets to roll for their warlord table.

The main reason I included the vindicator was because I felt I was lacking AP 1 weapons. Mostly I was worried about terminators or similar units and that big pie plate of death is just so attractive. Admittedly though, my sixth edition experience is extremely limited which is exactly why I'm here. Do you think another long fang squad with MLs would be able to deal with the same issues as the vindicator? I know it definitely seems more survivable than the tank but I hope that with the knight on the field it would draw a lot of the heavy fire allowing me to do some damage with the vindicator.

I'd also really like to add some transport to the list. I've read that rhinos are not very effective given the current state of the game but I do feel the the knight will draw a lot of fire the first turn or two which would hopefully leave some rhinos capable of delivering their units onto the field. I would use drop pods but I don't currently own any. Do you think it's worth it to carve out a spot for transport or am I better off just leaving them on foot? The knight has great movement and can hopefully clear a bit of a path but until I test it it's all just speculation.

Lastly, I know plasmas are good with the new rapid fire rules but should I switch out one squad for melts instead? Just in case I need to bust some armor. Thanks!

AP 2, like plasma, as well as lots of strength 4 shots will down terminators just fine. You have plenty of that.

MLs will not do was a vindi does, no, but it will add greater versatility to the army.

Won't the Knight bring essentially the same thing as a vindi and the meltas? i am always in favor of adding at least some melta to a MEQ list, though.

Wait, you're a SW player with no Pods. What is this? D:

As someone said, get transports. Either Pods or Rhinos.
Rest of this seems pretty good.

When I stopped playing the only way to get pods was through forgeworld. It's a lot more feasible now.

There is a lot of space wolf players in my area and the unit that always seems to be the biggest threat is the thunderwolves with a few stormshields in it. They are super fast and cannot be ignored and can absorb a lot of shooting with those shields. They are expensive point wise but always seem to be worth it when I face them.

Drop the vindi for 3 pods for your grey hunters.
