Hi
On a lot of the horus heresy novel covers, there are subtle differences between mk 2 3 and 4 sets of power armor. Does every forge world make these differences?

Expecting any sort of consistency from black library novels is like expecting the sun to blow up at any moment. Sure, it may seem like it could but it's not going to happen.

Just chalk it up to artistic liberties.

One look through the two Forgeworld HH books shows that there can be drastic differences between individual sets of armor and still be classified as Mk II, Mk III, etc.

The notion that consistency in a legion-sized force is a good thing is laughable.

The main reason you'll see differences between 2 suits of the same mark will likely be because some of the parts are not the same mark. Marines are practical and will recycle pieces between suits, power armor is modular in its design.

There will also be cosmetic differences, some obscure honor or decoration that that particular marine has.
