Subject: 500 pt eldar, is it too cheesy?

Here's the thing, I recently read Dan Simmons' Hyperion Cantos(go read it! It's something special!), and thanks to that (and a replaying of Monster Hunter) I've become a lot more interested in druidy elegant space things.
Concise introduction, I know.
Anyway, thinking of making a small 500pt army, but it has 2 Wave Serpents (I love the model and the concept) so I'm wondering if it would be too irritating to play against/is there a non-douchey way to use 'em?
Anyway, list is:
Farseer with singing spear -105
Dire Avengers (in a wave serpent with holofields and either scatter laser or the lancy raygun thing)

The non douchy way to play this is to use the Brightlance, the scatter laser is what make the Wave Serpent super OP.

Why, TL the shield is that big of a deal?
Sorry if this sounds idiotic, haven't played in a whiiile and the meta is confusing to me.

Yeah, the twinlinked shield is brutal and the volume of fire coming out of it.

I disagree, even with BL serpents are op, because you still make them pens into glances on a 2+.

If the person is silly enough to not fire the shield, with his list he will be because he is not using a Shur Can.

2@500 is cheese, use 1 and bikes.
Also, a tonne less boring for you. Trust me, by turn 3 rolling heaps if dice and rerolling you will regret taking it.

Actually you're right. For a bikes and serpent list you can get more on the table and get some more fun out of it. Still a very competitive list with bikes though. Think about this;
Farseer
-Jetbike
5x Dire Avengers
-Wave Serpent
-Holo-fields
-Scatter-laser
-Shuriken Catapult
3x Wind Rider Jetbike
-Shuriken Cannon
6x Wind Rider Jetbike
-2 Shuriken Cannon
Also leaves you the opportunity to split the unit of 6 into 2 units. Put the farseer with the big unit, lets you put out psychic powers on things much more effectively. Make sure you keep your bikes back a bit for early to mid game, putting them in rapid-fire bolter range is just a way to get them killed. End of turn 5 you can dash them to objective and use your superior fire power to start clearing people off of objectives.

That's a cool idea Danny, Maybe give the x3 jetbikes cannon and give it to the serpent.

I never take Cannon on a serpent, if you are actually using your mobility to the best of your ability you'll only be snap firing. Even at TL with the scatter laser it's not going to be all that useful.
