Basically I had an awesome use for the Night Lords Legion heads, and that was to bash the heads with the BA Death Company kit for a big squad of Chaplain Initiates, lead by a Chaplain himself to go with my Black Templars army.
My question is, would a Chaplain have followers/trainees/initiates? If so, what would they look like and how would they behave? Would they wear their Chapter colours or the Chaplain colours?
Also, do you think this is a good idea? xD

I'm not sure if they exist, but it's definitely a cool idea!

Haha thanks. I just saw those heads and thought 'I NEED THEM NOW' and figured out a way to include them into my BT army

This is touched upon in the old RT fluff. Not sure if it’s been updated since then. Chaplains do groom their replacements, and have initiates/aspirants who follow them. Colors are as chapter, but with black helmets and right shoulder pad/arm.

Haha, so as BT they'll simply have one white shoulder pad inset with their Chapter symbol on it.

Grimaldus, in the follow-up story to Helsreach also had a chaplain in training following him around. The trainee still wore a skull helm but I don't believe he carried a crozius.

My basic idea here is:
So, Chaplains do groom their successors, but considering the Black Templars are a very devout chapter the Chaplain may be spoilt for choice. He nominates an entire squad of possible successors and watches over them in battle, both so that he can protect them and so that they can prove themselves to him in battle and earn the place of the next Chaplain.
How's that sound?

I like that idea, he'll probably be subtly (or unsubtly) testing them all the time, making sure they've got the zeal and mercilessness needed for a Chaplain, and teaching them as he does so - I think that sounds like a great idea.

I imagine they'd act as both his students and his honour guard

Might even make rules for these guys. Just have them as BP+CCW marines with 'Favour of the Chaplain', gives them +1 attack in combat while in a unit with a Chaplain.
