Hey guys, been reading since I picked up the game. Never had a chance to sign up, college and a near full time job make it hard to have an internet presence.

So I've been mulling over this Blood Angels list, picked up some new sets, wanted to have some fun modelling/painting, etc. Problem is, I came up with what I thought was a balanced list only to realize that in my sleep deprived mania, I went over with my points, and I'm having a very tough time cutting the list down to size. I'll give you the unadulterated original list, and hopefully one or two of you can help me whittle the force down.

*Terminator Squad w/ AssCannon & LRC---480

+1 Attack Bike w/ MM

Heavy Support

*Devastator Squad
4 ML---140

Points 2,075

I'm only really fanatically attached to the bike units (Chappy, Bike Priest, Bike Squad) and the Terminators (in some capacity), otherwise I'm willing to make changes. One alternative I came up with, but didn't want to commit to was dropping the Libby and Chappy, and upgrading the Chappy to a Reclusiarch on a bike and have him zipping all over the place, but that seems like a recipe for further fail and a higher chance for slay the warlord than the same strategy with the Bike Chappy. I actually would have twenty five points to spare in that case, but I dunno.

Strategy wise, I was planning on having Corby, Libby, and the Termies in the LRC. JP Priest support the RAS, of course. Bike squad, supported by Bike Priest, and Chappy (Chappy could break off and support RAS as needed, mobility baby!), does mostly tank hunting. TSM gets some back/midfield action. Devs sit in back and shoot things with missiles!

My question to you all is: How do I keep the general theme of this army and still drop 75 points?

Thanks, Majorian

Also, I think it's worth mentioning that this is an upgrade from a 1500 pt. list

Take out the plasma pistols for starters. And get rid of the ML devs. They are terrible for BA.

Would it not be a good idea to have some heavy weapons in backfield poppin things long range?

AP 1&2 give you bonuses on the vehicle damage chart. The missiles being AP 3 mean outside of lucky rolling their use as anti tank is very luck dependent unless you are able to take enough of them to reliably glance tanks to death.

Unless you play in a meta with little in the way of heavy armor and an overabundance of armor 3+ MCs I would take Martel's advice.

Ok, in that case, would you recommend I beef up the bike squad? Maybe even invest those thirty points for the Reclusiarch? Just dropping the Devs leaves me 65 points.

I'm not sure how effective your troops choices are going to be. It really drives home how expensive BA units are that you have 695 points allocated to that configuration.

My brother has been having success with 5 man Assault squads in Heavy Flamer Razorbacks with 2 Flamers. They go incredibly fast and are always barbequing my troops. At 130 each he's settled on using them as the mainstay of his troops.

I'd switch the Terminators to Thunder Hammer/Storm Shields myself as tactical Terminators get massacred by Grav/Plasma etc. How effective is Corbulo once in combat? I only see him in the tanking wounds for Sternguard approach. Might be able to save some points by bumping him down to a normal Priest.

What do you typically come up against at 2000?

Here are some more tips:

Give your bikers plasma. Plasma bikers can double tap with plasma and still assault because of relentless.

For anti-tank, try MM attack bikes, backed up by a biker priest. The biker priest can confer FNP to both the attack bikes and the regular bikers.

If you must have ranged anti-tank, go with autolas preds, or even trilas preds. Fast preds are so much better than devs it's not even funny.

I would construct one assault squad to have a power axe on a sarge, power axe on a jump priest and force axe on a jump libby. This allows you to deny all challenges and still swing two FC axes at STR 6 AP 2. Get rid of all unwieldy weapons on solo sarges as they will be challenged out.

At the moment, just can't afford that many Razorbacks. I do like that configuration though. Might try it when I get some more money for smaller games.
Corbs is well, effective and attached to the termies, pretty survivable. People who run termies with corbs seem to go to this config to (it's pretty intuitive imo). Was considering bumping him down to a 'counts as', but that reroll is pretty nice. Also TH/SS--no dollahs for that right now.

umm, really a smattering of most armies except daemons and Dark Eldar. Hence the kinda jack of all trades kinda build

Thanks for the tips, Martel. I wasn't sure about plasma or melta, never run bikes before. Also I don't have the models/money for more Attack Bikes. Would like to expand eventually, but can't right now, college is also a fantastic timesink. I've actually got a set of arms for sergeant power axes already, been waffling over what I wanted to use. What's your evaluation of the Termie squad? Also are you suggesting I get another Libby, or drop the Terminator Libby?

Just found some more info on why Corbs is the bomb. I think the final post sums it up. If he prevents three termie deaths, he's made his points back, and he is really hard to kill. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260221-tactical-terminators/
