Looks sweet, I'm glad I got this preordered already, even though I doubt I'll use all three all that often...

Can't wait. I'm almost as excited about this one as I was for the B-wing.

I am very excited for both the Z-95 and TIE Defender as they will allow some role reversals of the respective factions. They also insert some mild counters to current power lists, enough to warrant their purchase simply to combat the meta if you are a tournament player.

Well done FFG, well done.

I agree. It really seems as though FFG is attempting to introduce more list styles at tournaments to combat the prototypical Tie Swarm and the B-wing or Falcon lists on the reb side. At the same time, I don't think any of those lists are dead either, just that there are going to be a) more viable counters to them and b) more viable lists in general.

The defender looks like an excellent addition to the imperials. It is a great all around ship that flies differently than any other ship out there. I heard someone say that you give it an ion cannon, ion someone, do the white k-turn and let them have it from behind. There's an excellent use for outmaneuver.

It'll be nice to have some more variety in my imperial lists.

Looks nice. I'm thinking that putting outmaneuver on Wedge would be kinda funny.

At first, I did a double-take on that maneuver dial. But, thinking about it and after a little testing, I really like how the Defender seems to play. Super fast with a white k-turn, that bastard will lock up a "lane" of space and totally dominate it. And with barrel roll, his single non-red hard turn is actually pretty solid.

The basic 30 point guy seems a little expensive, but the named pilots have great potential. I'm imagining one Defender with 2 Interceptors as a new elite list.

Whoah! White K-Turn?! Not game breaking, but glad you pay 30 points for the damn thing.

The red turns aren't necessarily the worst for a defender. with predator, you don't really need an action, especially if the target is pilot skill 2 or lower. I really hope the other no name option has an elite pilot skill slot.

I don't think a defender will be good for mono ship builds, but will be an excellent flanker and general havoc causing machine.

Loved the defender in the game tie fighter and its expansion, have been waiting for these to come out for ages since i saw a sneak peek a few months back.

As a huge Tie Fighter DOS game fan, I really like this ship and the Z-95.

My first impression when I saw its stats was.....why are the shields so low? Its relative SBD rating is closer to a B-Wing than an X-Wing. Perhaps 4 shields is closer to fluff? dunno, just what I remember. I think it was overpowered in the Tie Fighter game as its shields and speed were bumped higher that the Tie Advanced.....was so long ago.

Back to the game.

Its movement dial makes sense to me. It's almost like a rook in chess. It darts back and fourth with lightening speed and barrel rolls left or right to the next square to control air space (space space doesn't sound right).

I remember flying it in the Tie Fighter game. It was insanely fast. I can clearly understand its very linear movement ease. To take a sharp turn would require reducing the speed drastically in order to catch slower prey before one blew by at ludicrous speed.

Colonel Vessery seems like a good harassment ship. I'd add PTLs since there are plenty of green straight movements. I'd use that with barrel rolls...like a rook. His perk makes it seem as if he'll have perma target lock which equates to perma rerolls to primary weapons...yes/no? or am I missing something.

Regardless, I'll be adding this one to the collection like every other product they've already produced.

If the shields seem low, add the Shield Upgrade.

Anyone else thinking of taking the Outmaneuver EPT on Wedge?

There is a fine line between genius and insanity and I colored it in with crayon.

I guess I could add shields.

For Wedge...with Outmaneuver...that's just evil (for the other person).

Lancer, Vessery is going to be very mean, but needs support. He gets a free target lock right after he rolls attack dice, so if there is another target lock on the target, he gets a free target lock he can use right there. If you plan it out right, he'll always have a target lock and a focus to hit his target. That's huge with a three attack dice ship. This makes Vessery better, but a little bit more situational than the fire control system.

I want to try Rexler with the heavy laser cannon and predator. It'll be expensive, but with average rolls, you cause two to three crits to most ships. actually, he's only 2 points more than trellis at that point, but does the same thing better... I can't wait to experiment with that one.

No, you really can't. His special ability is incredibly situational, unless you're facing lots of YT-1300s and TIE bombers you're hardly ever going to use it. Remember, these are the requirements that have to be satisfied to get any use out of him:

1) The target won't take the damage on shields.
2) The target won't be killed by the damage cards even without flipping them.
3) The target won't be killed by the additional damage caused by turning eyeballs (if any) into hits.
4) You don't need focus to get enough hits that you can expect to get damage through the evade dice.
5) You don't roll so many eyeballs that you'd prefer more damage cards to crit effects.
6) You don't expect to need that focus for defense.

If even one of these conditions isn't met then you've just spent 47+ points on a basic HLC.

They're releasing a Corran Horn pilot card? What ship is he coming with?

Yes it's very situational, but I live in a falcon heavy rebel area. So far there is only one other real imperial player besides me here. It'll do wonders against the falcon, as well as the shuttle. I never said it would be competitive, I think it'll be fun. If you run Rexxler competitively, he'll probably only have predator, and maybe the ion cannon. but we won't know until we actually get to play around with him.

competitively the defender will most likely be limited to the no name scrub with an elite pilot skill (if he has one).

Awesome! Great to see Corran is getting a card! And that makes me much more likely to get an E-Wing at some point too.

Did Corran start in an E-Wing? I read "I, Jedi" about 15 years ago, plus the Yuuzhan Vong series, and that was it with him. I want stats ASAP when they're revealed!!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
