I've run this list to victory a few times, mostly against total noobs (like me) and I'm wondering if it has the chops to last against more deadly armies/players. The general tactic is to land pods as close to the mix as possible and then use long range support to blast anything overly threatening around them.

CHAPTER TACTICS- Carcharadons

HQ 1- Chapter Master, Artificer Armor, Storm Shield, Teeth of Terra- 200 pts

with 8 Honour Guard, chapter banner, chapter champion with extra CCW, in Drop Pod- 270 pts

TROOPS 1- 10 man tac, CCWs, flamer, V. sergeant with fist, drop pod- 225

TROOPS 2- as above, but V. sergeant with power sword/meltabombs- 220

TROOPS 3- 5 scouts, rifles/cloaks- 70

HEAVY 1- TFC- 100

HEAVY 2- TFC- 100

ELITE 1- 5 sternguard, 3 combi-meltas, drop pod- 185

HEAVY 3- Devastator Squad, 4 missile launchers

I realize that this isn't really an optimized list, being mostly assault based. I also realize that it has no way to deal with flyers, which I realize is pretty bad but I don't really see many of them and I find anti-flyer units to be excrutiatingly boring. The Sternguard and the CM drop in first turn and cause havoc, leaving the tacs in reserve to react at later turns.

This list has a lot of successful elements. 4 missile launcher blasts and two TFC give good anti-infantry and melta Sternguard are great anti-tank as well. Overall it has its bases covered and can give most opponents a good battle. It wouldn't last long against ion accelerator interceptor Riptides or heldrakes, but doesn't sound like your meta has escalated there yet.

The few changes I would recommend is dropping the power weapon sergeants and upgrading the storm shield to Shield Eternal. Being that your CM isn't on a bike, he will instant die to s8.
