Hey,

So i wanted to discuss the opportunities of running the classical FMC list with allied Riptides- would it work and be competitive?

Now, first of all the major downer is the loss of scoring through allies. thats a bummer but why i think it'd be a good idea to keep demons as the primary as they hold greater scoring troops.

secondly i think enclaves maybe the better choice as crisis suits are a hard hitting unit that you can afford to lose if necessary. ( maybe missile-sides to hold the back field?)

anyway, the first list I've written out - ( very roughly i might add - its just a foundation to be heavily worked on by all )

Farsight 165

Ovesa 305

Riptide 195
targetlock

Crisis team
6 x plasma 157

Belakor

Faitweaver

Horrors x 10

Horrors x 10

this comes in at 1650 and phew... I have strong doubts for what it is at the moment.
There absolutely must be a Demon prince in there somewhere to garunteee grimoire but I'm not sure where and how but that's for me to think about.

My question to you all is If you where going to take Demons/ tau - how would you do it? do you think it would be completive in todays meta?

let me know what you think!

thanks

Taking desperate allies just doesn't work IMO.

If daemons are your primary you do not want both Fateweaver and Be'lakor as you have to make Be'lakor your warlord and you lose the warp storm re-roll. Your better off taking Fateweaver and a LOC so you can add a exalted reward.

I think you would gain more from not running onclave and running a buff commander with missilesides. Make your nonscoring troops light. It will be harsh to play.

The other issue here is that per the Farsight Enclaves FAQ, Farsight is required to to be your warlord in order to unlock any of his special bodyguard team characters ( in this case O'vesa).

Tau / Farsight Enclaves as allies you will only ever have one Riptide, only exception being if you run the Forge World variant since it occupies a Hvy slot instead of Elite. Rules for it are on the FW website for, but have been stuck in "experimental rules" stage for about 5 or 6 months now, so not tournament legal yet. In a nutshell, it's less mobile and has the potential to put out a ridiculous amount of wounds of whatever it shoots at. The bigger the target ( bulky/extremely bulky/MC/vehicle, etc.) the more damage it does

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also the thing that make O'vesa stars nasty is the buff commander, as he gives the O'vesa unit twin linked, ignores cover, hit and run, and choice of MC/Tank Hunter or stubborn.

Just blobbing in farsight and O'vesa with a riptide will make a hard to kill unit, but it's screwed if it gets assaulted and will not be nearly as effective at shooting seeing as how your not twin linked and have no marker lights
